BV weekend trail descriptons.- Carnage

Carnage is rated a 9-10 on Traildamage.com

Sliders, good bumpers lockers and big tires are required. I ran the 1st half of carnage last year on 37" tires and they feel very small on this trail.

The trail is about a mile long. It is fun to watch buggies go through this trail as you walk it, just in case you don't want to take your rig through it.

Here is a picture of the entrance to the trail.

Updated and pics form Mosquito Pass this weekend

Updated the attendance list. Looks like a nice crowd forming.

Went up Mosquito Pass from the Leadville side Friday pm even though the Forest Service said it was blocked with snow near the top. Well it was right near where the Birdseye gulch trail intersects. Has me wondering what the passes will be like in a month. Wound up camping south of Trout Creek pass by way of the Four mile area. Found a nice spot, too bad we had to clean up from the previous slobs.

Personally I'm not interested in the Carnage type trails, I'll be more up for the passes, such as Hancock and maybe a hike up to the Alpine Tunnel. Maybe a little out of the way fishing as well.

A few pics from this weekend

Given that the confirmed Forest service camping is only 7, I think I'll cancel the porta - potti. I was supposed to let him know by July 1, so hopefully he won't be too upset. Remember there were two reasons for getting the porta-potti. First is low impact for a group the second was to hopefully get those less willing to go in a cat hole to come out. Post up if you are switching from maybe to confirmed Forest camping and think we should keep it. The cost is $100.

For us a porta-potty makes little difference but Im a maybe so i dont count :)

Can I come if I just chill at the campsite and drink beer? I may bring the kids and let them just goof off a little...probably wouldn't do any serious wheelin'.

Absolutely. Not sure how long anyone will be at camp though. I'll be there friday, and most of saturday, but not saturday night.

Guess it is time for a map. Go south on 285 from 24/285 to CR 270. Go past FR 272 and turn left on what looks like CR 273. About a mile down is where we will be camping, circle on map in Raspberry Gulch.. Just past foot trail 1776.

Off of 285 it is county road 270, which turns into 272. You go under a pipeline that crosses the road, then start looking right for the turn. once you pass the pipeline, take all the right hand turns if you have to, it's easy to turn around on the side roads, harder to turn around on 285. If you get to the gas station, you have gone too far, but not by much. Maybe a 1/4 mile. 270 off of 285, which crosses 271 then turns into 272, which runs into 273 on the left.... got it??? good.

Who has the CLC banner? Eric you still have it?

Definitely not making this one. The inlaws bought us tickets for Steve Miller Band at Red Rocks so what can you do :)
