Here are a few ideas about the weekend so mark you calendars now!
We will set up camp in either the same place as last year or one of several other campgrounds in the area. Porta Potti will be around $100 dollars for the weekend, I need to talk to the Forest Service about setting it up. We could get a block of campsites in a campground that will have toilets, water, dumpsters etc., cost $15 per site/night. Some campgrounds are near streams in the trees. Either way the club can pick up those costs or part of the costs, to be discussed further. Chuck and I discussed doing a recon trip out there in the next couple of weeks to try to look things over. I'm proposing Sat. March 12th for that. Will start another thread after I talk to the Forest Service.
We will be set up to have people come in camping Friday night. Those not wanting to camp can drive in that morning or spend one or two night in a hotel in Buena Vista.
Trail runs- We were thinking of having two runs per day, one easier one a bit more challenging. There are other things to do out there as well, hang out in camp, old mine exploring and rock hounding, fishing etc. David M. will post up possible trails and other activities.
During the runs I was thinking of setting up a poker run, but the logistics may be a bit tougher with this type group as compared to car show type event in town. If there is interest lets hear some ideas. One might be to bring the poker run along with the vehicle and have the two groups meet at a lunch spot together.
Saturday night- I'm proposing a chili cook-off and group pot luck
Some type of kids activities would be fun, any ideas?
Sunday - Group breakfast or on our own? Trail runs?
This is just a proposed outline, we can modify as we get input, so let's hear it.
Please post up if you plan to come and how many people in your group.
