Its a custom clutch I have made and sell to the high boosting turbo guys. Keeping in mind its a daily driver so clutch feel and pedal pressure is addressed.

Super high torque cover
120% more clamping force than stock
extreme organic plate (very smooth feel)
Leverage points have been altered to reduce pedal force

I dont know where you live to for a shipping qoute? Surely someone inthe US can build the same?

BigBoy, tried to send a PM regarding the clutch, but your storage is full. Can you quote a clutch shipped to 6062 in Western Australia?

Thanks.

Digging up an old thread.

As i'm slowly gathering parts for the general freshing up of my 1HDFT i need to choose a clutch. A turbo build with parts from Karter (forealboreal) will be fitted and some fiddling with the injection pump will be done. So i would like to get a heavier duty clutch without breaking the bank right away. I can get a kit with a stock Aisin disc (dtx-151) but with an upgraded cover with a clamping force of 980 kilograms instead of 750 stock. Does anyone know how much torque such a clutch can handle? Ballpark figure offcourse.
I will contact the seller, but i would like more opinions than the one of the seller.

Thanks in advance
Mark

I am interested in these results as well. Any updates for us with regard to clutch and PP combos/kits for the upgraded turbo crowd?

Thanks in advance!

I found out that the no name upgrade clutch kit was nothing else than a stock HDJ100 replacement clutch. So i just ordered that from a different vendor for a lot less and will see how it holds up.

Im in this boat now too. New stock clutch cant handle any extra power. Im using an Isuzu NPR disc (21 spline) with new toyota pressure plate. Does anyone know the clamping force of the NPR units? It might be able to be adapted.

There is an old post mine around here where I share clamping force at set point for OEM Toyota stuff and Exedy options at that moment ..

Thanks but thats not what Im looking for. There is a company in the US that makes performance clutches for the Isuzu. I believe the clutch cover for an NPR is a direct fit for the HD-T flywheel.

Im curious to know what the capability is for the stock Isuzu clutch since those trucks are meant to move around more weight. Im looking into the performance version but its not cheap.

South Bend Clutch - Dodge clutch kits and Kevlar Pilot Brgs. Dnya Max Clutch Kits for high performance. Their website kind of sucks.

I have a Southbend Stage 3 clutch in my Audi. It is heavy and stiff, and sometimes a bit chattery. Slippage is zero, but there is a price. Personally I would not want that feel in a truck I want to wheel.

I would advise having a chat with Georg and Ward to see what options that Terrain Tamer have for your setup. I have gone with the Terrain Tamer HD option for my 80 1HD-FT and H151F, and the XXII on the 1HD-FT and H55F with the 45. The 80 will be on the road this month, so will have impressions at that time.

I am very happy with the XXi in my truck

The Isuzu clutches changed around 1988 from 275mm to 300mm. I have the 275mm clutch with factory cover plate and mine has never slipped, even with over 600Nm.
Next time I have it out (I plan a few flywheel mods) I hope to try and measure clamp force, but it'll be tricky as it'll involve balancing weight on the clutch cover face while they sit on some industrial scales.

I suppose I could do the maths on clutch fork and pedal dimensions along with master/slave diameters and pedal force!

Would be interesting to compare results using both methods..... but that equals twice the work..

Found a US supplier. These guys assemble clutch cover parts to achieve higher clamp force. They don't manufacture pressure plates. They mix/match other manufactures unassembled parts and will modify fulcrum points if needed. They make their own clutch discs. They don't have the t/o or pilot bearing but those are easy to get.

SPEC Clutches & Flywheels: Auto Parts, Domestic, Import, Truck, Racing, Drifting :: Results By Car

The listing is for 1fz which is interchangeable with the hd-t. I had them make a 21 spline version at no extra cost. I just received the parts today. The cover has an aisin mark. It's obvious that they assembled it and the diaphragm is different.
One odd thing though. The friction material is wider than the friction surface on the fw and plate. The outside diameter is correct but the disc material is 2.5" wide vs 2.125 for the stock parts. Doesn't seem right though I'm not sure it will cause a problem. I may wait until Monday to call them before installing it.

Price is better than other options. Hopefully it works well.

Unfortunately the pressure plate for the Isuzu has a slightly larger bolt circle. The disc works(21 spline) but we already knew that.

The spec clutch works great so far. No change in pedal feel it may actually be lighter. It grabs a tiny bit on take off in first, but adding a few rpm smooths it out.
No slipping so far running 20psi.

Hey Steve, any feedback you can share on the Terrain Tamer HD clutch? I'm researching options for my own setup for a 1hdft as well. Thanks in advance
