I dunno tap. For that kind of price Id expect the plumbing to the intake manifold to work better than that. It almost looks like an after thought.
And a top mount without a big fan make no sence. And Im a big fan of top mounts. No pun intended, this is serious stuff here.
Imagine how well those items would work in that location? As nice as those kits are, I still feel front mount is the only way to go (whether it be Air/Air, or a Air/Water radiator).
agree .. I just had no other option any of my Cruisers .. was that or my AC and here you can't ( well I can't ) live without AC .. so option was clear, I would like to thing 60% efficient IC it's better than no IC at all ..
I've got freezing AC, the condenser fits between the engine rad and the w2a rad, with some altered piping to let it all hook up. Cold as with the twin thermos on the w2a and the shrouded hub fanthink it was about 8 deg C when last tested. It's a necessity here too with 40C ambients most days
Space limitation is the reason I went with a water/air intercooler system also. There is no way i could have retained my A/C with an Air/Air system (unless I went top mount which I was not willing to do). That said, I'm not working with an 80 series.
Rob1983, do you have pictures of fans on your intercooler radiator? I've been thinking of putting a couple on mine too.
it's tight but they're in there!
No problem! Go SPAL if you can, good quality and lots of flow, I've just bought another 10" puller to sit behind my oil cooler, does 810 cfm!Wow, that is tight! Nice work though! I think on mine I'm going to have to puller fans behind it. Same idea though. Thanks for the pictures.
Core doesn't look that big, what's the dimensions on the rad? Be good to see pre/post temps too for comparison purposes. I'm just waiting on cash flow, then it's back to Brissie for XXi pump/injectors & airbox, aiming for 300whp at ~17/18:1/~28psi. Will have bragging rights on the 1HDT then...To answer my own q from a few pages ago got new cable bracket fabbed. Core is a bit excessive, and rad is probably a bit small but will wait until I get some numbers pre & post cooler with badboy (waiting on injectors :s)

Toyota thought best to pu tit on top for 10+ years and still going on the everyday work Hilux and first Prado - on about a million of them [guesstimate]. Doesn't mean its right or wrong...IMHO, putting an intercooler on top of an engine makes about as much sense as putting a radiator, oil cooler or A/C condensor on top of an engine. Imagine how well those items would work in that location? As nice as those kits are, I still feel front mount is the only way to go (whether it be Air/Air, or a Air/Water radiator).
mod pump or standard?Got a 4in snorkel, duramax in custom airbox, bb, w2a, 3in zorst. Going for a Graeme tune once finished fitting. Running EBC to 28psi, will see what happens! 1HDT should shake a few fte's.
