That feedback is from a 1HD-FT(e) is it not?

Whilst the person you built THAT cooler / intake configuration for is a 1HD-T...

TheBigboy makes these for FT?
Really interested if so
Only issue might be need for custom injector lines
Love the idea of one on my rig
Looks like pie warmer might be the go after all

:D

Currently building 5 for FT.

I've looked into the lines aswell. All hit dead ends. If you do get a lead. Let me know.

Well this is awkward, Klaus does my injector pumps and injectors and i never even bothered to ask him, just assumed he was'nt set up for it.

Will ask him tomorrow, thanks brumby

I've been following some of the IC threads because I am planning on installing an IC especially being here in AZ. Just a bit curious if the temps radiating from the install over the valve cover affect the IC efficiency. Aside from TheBigBoy, has there been anyone else that has done any temperature sampling of the pre-IC intake temps and the post-IC/intake manifold temps?

I don't think it's too much of an issue for a w2a setup.
I think the main concern is with a2a top mounts without fans while sitting stationary or at speeds below 20km/h

I would like to find a good gauge to measure my intercoolers efficiency when I install the setup.

K & B Diesel in Isa should be able to help. He's made one off replacement injector lines for trucks and tractors for me.

Rang Klaus, he will do one off jobs on older diesels in a pinch but is not really willing to do a full injector line set, does not know anyone in country that does unfortunately, that rocken mob is looking more and more attractive.

May have scored a blown FT motor, can use that to dummy something up in case bigboy starts making the newer style IC to suit the FT.

Lots, with my water-air setup. One of the links in my signature will take you to that info (in this thread, of all places :D ).

I can get great efficiency from the intercooler itself and I don't think the heat from the engine is much of an issue.

What's FAR more relevant is how you get the air from your turbo through the cooler and into and plenum, and how you cool the water. My biggest issue by far is still cooling the water. The intercooler can only work with the temperature of water it's being fed...

And I'm still using a stock airbox with Safari snorkle. Poor turbo is sucking for its life trying to do over 20psi at 2500+rpm.

we need to do something about that ..

I'll throw up the FT version of the XXi intercooler

Wow, that's a thing of beauty! Both the air box and intercooler look like they should of come that way from the factory. Do they have the costs up on their website?

On another note kind of intercooler related. How big is the heat exchanger and for those with auto trans where are you relocating the aux. trans cooler?

Prepare yourself for sticker shock.

When you use only the best components to get the absolute best results around. It adds up. 35psi (110'c in 30'c out - 24'c ambient) = Worth every cent. :)

I posted this a month ago elsewhere, anyway it's my figures.

" When out for a bit of a weekend away with the Twin Rivers 4WD club, towed my 2.5 tonne caravan up Cunninghams Gap up the Dividing Range.

1/2 of the way up in 5th as ETG got to 550 degC and up and over the to in 4th @ the speed limit of 70KM/H, ETG 430 degC, used to go over there with the Grunter turbo and Safari intercooler a gear lower because of hi ETG's.

Boost Max 30psi
Intercooler temps maxed out at,
Pre intercooler temp - 132 degC
Post intercooler temp - 63 degC
ETG temps - 550 degC

Towing on the mostly flat road @ 95/100 running 16/20 psi boost, (my foot cruise control isn't as good as the OME one)
Pre intercooler temp - 110 degC
Post intercooler temp - 42 degC
ETG temp - 325 degC "

This was the day after the intercooler was fitted, next morning I found there was a drop in the water level and added about 1 litre of water to fill the system up, it was due to a small leak in a air bleed valve, no biggy.
But it did show me the intercooler system worked very well even short on water.

I don't run the Grunter 2 turbo anymore, I've upgraded to the Badboy2V2 and run a HP injector pump :bounce2::bounce2:

It's just had a retune to correct the AFR's through the rev range so I expect the ETG to change to what is on here now. I'll run the same route but that will not be until November so ambient temps will be higher.

IMO, it a great package that I have now.

Shots of the HDJ79 hood scoop. Anyone with leads on what scoop this would be from I want one.

Sorry if some one has already replied to this - I think this scoop is a factory scoop taken from an Aussie VDJ79 4.5 V8 like in the pic.

Do you not have these over there?
P.S.
Graeme - Have you got any specs of what one of these can put out with one of your turbos on it?

Im finding it pretty hard to believe that no one in australia does custom injector lines, turns out Knudsen6x6 on this forum had a simmilar idea to mine.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/diesel-tec...ke-manifold-modifications-12.html#post8690843

Wondering if its possible to get a set of straight lines from rocken and bend them myself, hopefully they are not lined like the tojo ones.

It's on my to investigate list, I would like to have an inlet manifold the same as Lee (Legend 80) but if you come up with a solution first, I'll be in on it.:)
