The jalapodo build
Well anyways I'm 17 and wanted to have a reliable daily driver and a trail rig I can have lots of fun with. I live in Houston(lots of mud) so Rock Crawling is rare but that's the type of rig I'm aiming for because I'm very inspired by everyone's builds. I waited a year trying to find deals on toyota trucks and none came up so some guy called me up saying he has an 80 4x4 Pickup with the windshield not glued and no rust so I rush over there and this is what I come to.

I swear this is the best I could find, the guy said the motor was good. I got it home, stripped the interior and Carpet and damn, I have a mexican stop sign as a floorboard, I pop the hood and it's filled witht a bunch of Mexican half ass ****. At this point I'm starting to regret, but Hey at least the frame was solid. I took out the Bed because it had a 3 foot rust hole in the middle of it, Sandblasted the middle to back part of the frame and coated it with POR 15, shortened the frame, painted the rear axle. I cleaned the starter contacts in the ignition because it wouldn't start and it started but the Carb was totally ****ed. So i rebuilt ti and the motor runs great and doesn't have a single leak. Wow something good for a change. It overheats so I changed the thermostat and instant fix. I had just recently got some 31' all terrains with some nice looking rims(I needed something to hold the truck up, it doesn't even have hald the wheels holding air. I have cut the flares, welded up the new floorboards, and welded in new sheet metal on the body. Right now it's being painted by me so pics are to come soon.
Future plans are,
-36" iroks or mud terrains
-Aussie lockers front and rear
-Rears up front or Yj Springs
-Chevys out Back
-square tubing bed
-Exocage
-5.71 gears
Am I on the right track here

Don't regret it. Just look at the rust as impossible to degrade. :)

Seriously, I think that's really cool. I think that 1st generation body is one of the best looking that Toyota ever made.

Sounds like you've got the important stuff taken care of already (the engine).

What does "Chevys out back" mean though? Are you planning on putting a chevy axle in the rear? Or is it some sort of unholy motor swap? :)

I've spent way too much time in Houston to think that you got anything other than a cream-puff! Seriously doesn't look too bad. Are you driving it around now?

I mean I want to do a 63" Chevy springs swap.

Sounds great!!! And you're only 17? Sweet! How'd the name "Jalapodo" come about?
I got it of a show called (Trailer Park Boys) they only show it in Canada but I got it offline. It's pretty much the best show ever in my opinion.

I'll have pics up tomorrow when I get my paint job done.

Hopefully you are keeping the same color. Terra Cotta is an awesome. You can hardly tell it's dirty. Maybe with a truckload of TLC, your truck will look like mine one day. (Before you make it a rock crawlin machine that is.) Good Luck!

Nice truck man congrats, unfortunately I don't have that color because mexians rattlecanned it white, but I chose to paint it a dark gray.

Never mind I got them today

I'm from the states but I love trailer park boys as well (my best friend lives in Vancouver). My favorite episode would have to be "I have met cats and dogs smarter than Trevor and Cory" Season 2. Funniest sh*t ever. I also love the first generation truck/ trecker look, especially on 35's.

Well after doing a ton of work this suwmmer I have the truck almost built up. Steel prices are way too high, and tires.

After effects. Back home with a clogged fuel line and a busted pump I think. One of them NGK's went out on me also. Aright tell me what you think.

Thanks for the compliment, but this is far from end, next summer come lockers, bumpers, and winch.

Looks good!!! Nice plan you have too... Lockers and winch seriously adds to the fun in wheeling the truck... ;) although you might want to add front window to your list...:cheers:
Tell me about it, I've been waiting for my seal from the stealership for 3 weeks now.

Just some wheeling pics.

I need to make new shock mounts, do a 1" wheelbase stretch because I messed up my fenderwells by warping them a bit Nothing a hammer can't fix. I snapped I cracked the outer part of my front driveshaft where the splines meet, so sq. shaft here I come. Overall the truck does pretty good except that whole steering 36's with your bare hands.
