I think NBC or one of their networks did an hour long special on the Rem 700 issue several years ago, and included military personnel (ie snipers going back a ways) that had encountered issues with their 700s. It was a very inexpensive fix for Remington, and they made it something short of a voluntary event, rather than a recall.
I vaguely remember this as well. I think the guy in the video smacked the side of the rifle and it fired. Likewise though I think it was a pretty simple fix.

yeah, the fix was less than a dollar a rifle, $.74 or something like that. Remington was disputing it, because of the negative implications of having a recall on their most popular firearm.

Correct. Looks like CNBC covered this in 2010 and again in 2015:

Remington Under Fire: A CNBC Investigation

i had an old double barrel shotgun when i was younger, both barrels went off on my one time just as a closed the breech. lets lust say it was a good thing i was focused and had a good grip on the gun. I took it to a gunsmith and he replaced a pin, only cost me about $20.00 labor included. You just never know.

Oh no. Not a black bun bakery!

Plus they arent 5 miles from my front door unless ive missed something here

I remember looking at Google when the Ruger plant went in - my Dad was asking me about it. I saw Bushmaster near Remington on the map. Maybe its a nightclub instead. I'll have to go look.

Remington's corporate headquarters are in Mayodan but they don't make any guns here. Ruger has a manufacturing plant in Madison.

And if you teach a kid whose dad works there you get free Remington hats for Christmas.:D

Yeah but if you work there its a few guns a year (correct me if wrong stephan) at cost; id make no money. Lol

That sounds dangerous - I could easily swap back to a 1100, though, and leave Benelli behind :) I could see me buying a 700 at cost of like $300 and then dropping $5K on it with upgrades, same with the 1100 for trap . .sigh.

I will say though, that I used to love computers and now that I work for a computer company, I would never buy one and hate the use them.

Hmm - - maybe this would "cure me" of my gun lust . . . I wonder if they need anyone in Finance there :)

I totally understand, I used to be obsessed with golf. Now I'm so burnt out with it I rarely play and really can't stand it anymore.

I'm like that with diving. Living in the lower Keys with Gin clear water and more aquatic life than you can imagine spoiled me, I've not been diving since.

Will post in the bun thread as well but looking to sell my Ruger SP101. I bought it new and have probably put less than 50 rounds through it. $480 obo

That is classic @Rice My sister is a screaming liberal and a big anti gun nut, She knows absolutely nothing about guns yet is an expert. When I saw her last I puled out my carry weapon, unloaded it, locked the slide open to show her and possibly educate her ignorant ass. No can do, she ran away from me screaming at me that I could get her killed.

Typical anti gun lefty. It is better to bitch and protest with no real information about the subject than to be educated a bit on the subject and then have to change your tune.
