My EDC is my G19. I love that gun and it's an extension of my hand at this point. Like I mentioned there are just some days when it's just too big for me to carry based on work attire. Whatever I get, it will see plenty of range time and I won't carry it unless I am absolutely certain in my abilities with it. I just wanted to hear a couple opinions on personal experience with a few physically smaller firearms. I'll go molest a few at the local shops and see what feels good.

I hear ya ... for me the pistol @ontherxs posted up is a very nice pocket piece ...

OK, I'll jump in. Please be careful if anyone wants to go between something like that Sig and a Glock. They work very differently when your under pressure. SAO and striker fired are very different animals.

1911's are great. John Browning made an incredible pistol over 100 years ago. They're accurate and .45 is a great round. Sometimes they need a little more gunsmithing than modern pistols but if your willing to spend the time learning and practicing they're hard to beat. One problem is many people aren't ready and willing to carry a pistol hammer cocked with one in the chamber.

Glocks and others that just go bang when you pull the trigger are better* for most people who just want something for protection. More rounds in something the same size that goes bang every time fits what I hear most people ask for.

*in my opinion which is worth what you paid for it.

Yes, the cocked and locked issue is a problem for some. It is the number one reason that many police departments will not allow a 1911 as a duty weapon.

But if you are willing and you like a 1911 but need/desire a smaller size the sig 938 and 238's are nice options.

I had the LCP and it was a time of I can only afford one and it had to perform all duties. But I found it great for conceal it was no fun for casual range time. And I learned the long stiff trigger made me pull off target. I never bought a gun without shooting first again. The wallet holster was way slick though and even more comfortable to fire from.

Eric l'd look at the Kahr and The 938 is nice as well but has more edges and width. Calibers has all kinda of guns you can rent for 6 bux.

Looks very familiar jfz80

I use a Springfield Champion lightweight or Wilson CQB 1911 in the colder months and am a certified 1911 nut. In the summer I use a S&W Shield with a thumb safety because it carries easier with shorts and prints less with light shirts. I went with the Shield because its the same memory reflex for me as a 1911. Draw, sweep thumb safety, bang. Lots of folks frown on thumb safeties on a defensive gun but that's what I have shot for 25 years of 1911's so I stick with it. In small sized 1911 style guns I have had poor luck with reliabilty and won't trust any 1911 style with less than 4-41/4" barrels. I don't care for Glocks because they point portly for me...reliable and durable but do not fit me. The only polymer full sized I own is an HK USP with.....you guessed it....1911 controls. I have been real satisfied with the Shield. Its light enough for a clip on IWB holster for easy on/off and small enough to not notice wearing yet but big enough to shoot well. Give a good look at Garrett Silent Thunder IWB holsters...after trying many that's all I use IWB any more.

Well it didn't take long for me to change things up with my 9mm Glock. Extended mag release, 3.5lb connector spring, AGrip and an aluminum firing pin cover to match the mag release :D

Need to get out to the range this week, then schedule my CCW course.

I love the A-grip. I have it on both of my Glocks.

I attached a pic of one of my EDC's . A NAA .22. It fits perfect in my back pocket, especially with the custom holster. It will get me to my G27 which is never that far away.

I just took the CC course here in KC. Even if you don't intend or want to carry regularly, great to learn/refresh local rules on all kinds of things about gun ownership, possession, safe use, etc. Here in KC, seems like it is much easier to buy/sell/trade guns with a CCL - people trust you more, etc.

I am down to only Ruger 10/22's, 300 BLK AR rifles, Benelli 12 gauge shotguns and Glock handguns in 9 MM now .. .and 2 or 3 or so silencers. I had a mishmash of other stuff that I have gotten rid of to keep the type of ammo I need more consistent - no more .45, .308, .223, 16 gauge, etc.

I intend to convert a 300 BLK to a SBR, but the potential move has got in the way!

Another bump. Didn't want the gub thread to fall too far down the list. Post up any new toys.

Latest for me was a couple months ago.

Haven't bought anything other than ammo recently. Bought 1000 rounds of 9mm remanufactured from Freedom Munitions and have had maybe 1 stovepipe out of 500 rounds, so I will continue to buy from them.

Brother in law was in town last week and he brought his boomsticks to play with. First one to name the revolver wins a cookie. Yes, that's a Leupold 2x power scope on the revolver:

Ok, I'm too impatient. We shot it at 7 yards and at 100 yards. The RSOs on shift were giddy when we let them shoot it. We went through 10 shots at 100 yards (5 for each of us) and only got two on paper, but they were damn close to the center.

100 yard target. Not all of the cardboard holes are ours, so I don't know how close we were with the other shots.

100 yards or 100 feet? 100 yards is one long building

Try Georgia Arms ammo as well. High quality stuff that I have used for 20 years or so ... including hunting ammo.

I know what I said, and I said what I meant. The Wake county firearms center has a 100 yard indoor range. It's awesome.

Damn! Never seen a 100 yard indoor range before!
