i was shooting American eagle too. however, it got considerably worse with Speer Lawman yesterday. it went from dirty to damn thats dirty.

at least we dont hate other brands of guns for no reason, and can love and cherish others haha. Adam just hates guns i like. My SBEs are the scum of the earth to him haha.

I just don't like the look and feel of a glock. Now the shotguns i dont see the point of spending mucho denerio on a benelli. An 870 works just as well.

I don't know of anyone that thinks the glock is a pretty gun, but it fits my hand better than anything else I've found. That's more important to me in guns. Women? That's a different story. That's about looks and fitment!

Meatball, have you tried a 4th Gen Glock? Still not purdy, but they fit much better in my hand than the previous Glocks. While I agree that Glocks aren't the best looking guns out there, they are simple, and they flat out work. I'm not saying they don't have issues, like the 4th Gen 9mm ejection issues, but in general, they're among the most reliable guns on the planet.

I do love other guns too though. I own 2 Rugers and almost got a 3rd had I not seen the Range Officer yesterday. I also like Sigs, Berettas, and several 1911's.

I agree on shotguns. My cheapo Mossberg 500 does the trick. I can't see spending big bucks on a scattergun unless you're serious into competitions.

I really like my Glock 21. Thousands of rounds through it and NEVER an issue, not once. It fits my hand well and the rounds go where I want them to. I did not buy it to be pretty, I bought it to sit in my night stand and do it's job if ever the need arises. Sure it is not as cool as a Kimber that cost three times as much, but the idiot that breaks into my house at 3AM will be just as dead as if I had the Kimber.

I do not agree with you there. I shot trap on a regular basis for several years with a Remington 1100 Competition. I shot 25s,50s, 75s and even 100s on a regular basis.

Many of the guys at the club told me I needed to get rid of that "gas gun" and get a good gun like their Perazzi for example. To them I would respond...

"Lets see, I just shot 2-25s while at the same time you shot an 18 and a 17. Yeah I sure do need one of those $15K shotguns"

Idiots

SBE isnt a gas gun. and, in my experience, it is absurdly reliable. the only issues i have ever had were when i had wet powder in waterlogged shells from deep wading. these jammed from lack of recoil, the shot rolled out of the barrel. The other time it jammed, i fell in a hole, the entire gun went under water. I pulled it out and shot as soon as the water sloshed out of the barrel. It shot once, killed a Gadwall, but did not eject. 2 times in 12 years and 3 SBEs. Damn fantcie auto loaders. Who needs em.

Ahhh, good old Shotgun Country. For pump action, 870s, 590s do the trick. Simple, functional, not too much to break. We used to use 870s and 500/590s for breaching doors until we found that M-79s with the beehive rounds do a way better job. We beat the crap put of them, and the 590s held up a better by a very small margin, coin toss for what I'd buy if I was in the market. FN's are pretty nice also, but the Mossberg and Remingtons are the Honda Civic of shotguns, reliable and tons of aftermarket junk available or them.

For Semi-autos, I like Benelli only because I have had by Super 90 for a good 15+ years and it shoots great. The Winchester Gas Guns are really smooth shooters, but are prone to failures over the long haul. I don't know about their current stuff, but the best semi-auto shotgun is the Browning Auto-5, but the old school ones made in Belgium.;) Once my firearms trust is done, the next fun purchase will be a Knights Armament Masterkey:grinpimp:

I hear you on the Perazzi, but I'd probably get the Browning Citori 425 American Sporter or Sporter Gold for an over/under, has some old school, classic lines that I like:cheers:

i am an A-5 fan too. however i disagree with you. They are remarkable guns. One of the best pointing guns of all time. however, i have a Japanese and FN A-5. The japanese has had less issues than the coveted Belgium Browning. I know this is rare though. That being said, I have never hunted with these guns since owning a Benelli. They cycle extremely slowly compared to the Benelli. I can feel the barrel recoiling back. It is a HUGE moving part. Dont get me wrong. I love these guns. To me, they do not compare to the SBE. The jam/failure rate is 10 times higher with the a-5. but like i said, they are a dern good pointing shot gun. Looking over the rear of that receiver is a nice view.

and to Adam, the 870 is an amazing, prolific gun. It is simple and reliable. But even the Marines went to a Benelli. Yes it is a hybrid gun loosely based on the SBE. It runs off a gas and inertia system. But yes, the $$ on that one is huge.

Come on, you gotta love the slow cycle:grinpimp:

When was your FN/Browning made? I had a late 1970s Browning Auto-5, shot the s*** out of that thing. The newer ones (including the Belgium ones) aren't anywhere near as good.

Absolutely love my Benelli Super 90. One failure and probably 2K plus through the gun. It was a light target load that stovepipes. It has been in deep mud, but never submerged.

I had always heard Glock was the most reliable and thought about that when buying my XDM, but the SA fit my hand better, I liked the look feel and package, and then I saw this:

Figure it'll be good enough for me for a few years as well :D

haha, it is a good feeling. But you can feel it. The benelli is instant. I believe my FN is a light 69, but I dont have it here. I think the Japanese is late 70s, maybe 1980. I am not saying its prettier, just less issues. My dad was shooting it before i was born, until we got into Benelli. I know i probably had abnormal issues. My Belgium slam fired for a bit. In an auto loder, that is a fun first time. Makes you glad you practice proper gun safety.

the A-5 is SO pretty, and like the 1911, M2, and Hi power, it is amazing these guns were invented a century ago, and are still going strong today. JMB was one smart, smart man.

Actually, I wasn't saying that I think you NEED a high dollar gun to compete. A good shooter with a cheaper gun should beat a poor shooter with a high-dollar shotgun most of the time. I just said that I can't see why you'd need to buy an expensive shotgun, unless you felt it would help give you an edge in competition. I guess there's also the collectibility of some of the nicer, more expensive guns too, but my budget doesn't really allow for me to be a "collector".

That being said, I have no experience with the semi-autos. The Benelli's sure seem like sweet guns. I just have no need for anything more than my 500 right now.

purdy?

My Glock is sexy and she knows it. lol. Here's my latest. I traded my Gen 3 G23 for a Gen 3 G19 RTF2. I always liked the fishgills on the slide. Same Glock reliability with a slightly different look.

Gen 3 G19 rtf.webp

The old slam fire will sure wake you up, don't it? :grinpimp:

Sent from my iPhone using IH8MUD
you are telling me. The fun part was that it had 4 in the tube and continued to slam fire. Thus, for a brief period of time, i had a 5 shot fully auto A-5. Hold On!!

SBE= Super Black Eagle

and Eric very cool gun. What grip is on it?
