How will we have the #3 record in the ACC if we beat SC next Sat.? Are you saying that if BC loses to Miami and VT, and VA lose to VT then we will be in the Gator Bowl? If so, what bowl would BC, and VA be in with VA having a better record than us?

By the way, I am sick of hearing about all of our great oppurtunities, how we are in control of our own destiny. The kids played there hearts out this season, it is unfortunate that it all went down hill in 58 seconds. We seriously need to scout for better kickers, this losing by 1-3 points is getting tough, Bowden should have kicked at 3rd. down, Kelley should have had that TD, blah, blah, blah. We lost, end of story. But we are getting closer.

I just hope that the Clemson alumni and boosters are a little more patient with Bowden. He had a young team, and they performed great. Just not great enough.

You guys have a great Turkey day!

Jeremy

Us beating USC doesnt effect it as far as ACC goes but its a decent win which will look good to any bowl selection team. We are second in our 1/2 of the league though so that makes us either 3 or 4. If VT beats UVA than we both have the same 9-3 record, we are currently like 6 spots below them in the polls but if they lose and we win we would probably slide back ahead of them. If we have the same record and are ranked higher I think we will get the Gator over UVA it doesnt hurt that we will travel way better than them and have more name recognition.

I'm not buying your kicker comment, most kickers arent going to make a 54 yarder at any point in the game let alone with all the pressure of a trip to the Acc Championship on their back. Buckholz has done better than any kicker in my 7 years here and when hes not playing soccer next yr he'll be better.

We needed to win this season we are screwed next season by our schedule all our tough games are away next season and all our cupcakes like duke, and usc are at home. Our road to the championship game next yr is a lot harder than it was this yr.

I understand the 54 yarder, that was tough. Bowden should have set him up better. But just last week he made a 48, 52, and 46 yarder and this week he missed a 46 yarder. Add that to the streak against GT and I say he is a 35 yd. kicker at best. I think he must have just got lucky last week. Or maybe his soccer season affected his performance.

As a Clemson fan 63% doesn't cut it. That's his FG % as well as close to our winning %. That doesn't get us to an ACC championship game, nor will it ever get us a #1 or #2 poll spot. We need to edge up to that 90% mark, and to do that we needed him to make all 5 of those field goals against GT, and make that 46 yarder against BC.

If that is acceptable to you then you must be o.k. with living with the fact that Clemson is mediocre, at which case we should never expect to win a championship and make it to a BCS bid and just let Bowden settle in and quit threatening to fire him each year.

I know Clemson is better than that.

Oh, and he is only ranked higher than Surgan and Meyers in the ACC for FG%, that means he is last in the ACC in my book seeing as those guys haven't kicked near as much as him.

Is case you can't tell, I am pretty let down by Clemson, again, this year. I just don't see them going to the Gator Bowl. Champs Sports doo, doo bowl here we come.

Jeremy

Buckholz has only missed 2 field goals under 40 yards which means if we just look at under 40 hes at 86% beyond 40 is 50-50 at best with most kickers unless they are heading to the NFL. He's 4-9 from 40-50 which is still near 50% its the 1-5 from beyond 50 we shouldnt be going for 50+ yarders that often anyway. He is the best kicker we have had in a while and clearly SC is producing any high quality kickers for us to scoop up anyway. Jackson was supposed to be so great and he cant even stay off the injured list. Buckholz isnt the reason for any of our losses this yr. We wouldnt have beat Gt if he was perfect, we wouldnt have beaten VT if he was perfect and he shouldnt have had to kick against BC cause we should have score with first and goal from the two and with a dropped pass. Dont make him out to be a poor kicker by % when hes having to attempt 45-54 yd bombs regularly.

I'm pretty let down too, especially since next yr our schedule is pretty brutal and I dont expect us to get through it very easily, but I do think if we win and UVA loses we will get the Gator over them. Its all about money and Clemson will bring in more than UVA.

I'll agree with you on all that, the media gives these young guys a hard time. I was just looking at the articles and media response to his performance and combining that with his stats to form my oppinion. To be honest, I haven't followed his career this year with to much interest, and it seems like you have. All I can say is, if the game against Wake is a fair representation of his performance, then we shouldn't be pointing any fingers at him next year. Let's just hope that that star QB from Byrnes has learned something this year and gives us a good season next year.

Harper is still gonna be the starter next yr I believe. If hes better than Korn now and they both practice the same amount than Korn would have to improve that much more over the same period of time, doesnt seem highly likely. If Harper plays like this again thats fine by me anyway.

it's on!

Po ol USC can't catch a break. Now they have to play the shoulda been
ACC champs. Thunder and Lighting...shudder.....comes to Willie Brice.
Those lamecocks ain't got a snowball's chance in Hades of keeping it respectfully
close.
Woe and misery. The sky is falling. I see another 63+ points hung on the sorry
run defense. SOS will probably be shutout on offense as well.
I mean there isn't ONE area where I'd give USC the edge.
QB?....nope
RBs?.....nope
Defense?...nope
Offense?....nope
Special teams?...nope

The lone bright spot is the most talented team doesn't always win. Heck even mighty
CU lost one this year and we KNOW they are the MOST talented team in the ACC.
Talent wise USC ain't even close.
It should be a laugher by halftime.
Get that avatar ready Richard. :grinpimp:

Oh I will have you an avatar David dont worry.

I might give you the edge in special teams.

Is the Capt playing this weekend or not? I hear hes out for the yr then I hear he might play I dont know whats up with him.

That was good, thanks David.

Yeah it was a heck of a game 2 missed field goals cost us, It was so loud in there though I think we broke our own noise record. I saw over 132Db on the noise meter. It sucks we arent going to jacksonville but at least it was a good game not something where we sucked and got blown out. We shouldnt drop to much in the polls. Probably still in line for Gator Bowl #3 in the ACC if we take care of business next week.

Holy moley, this is great. Congrats on your noise record Richard.

With all of the class you showed after your win the weekend before, this is karma from the football gods.

Enjoy waiting for another disappointing year of trying to make it to JAX, never mind eating oranges. Not like you would have gone anyway...

FWIW, BC being a 9 point dog was nuts. Vegas is right most of the time but that was a no-brainer. I'd like to say the C-note I won on the game was the best part of the night, but it was MUCH better knowing the agony and pain you were suffering watching your team ineffictively execute when you were "in control of your own destiny"...

Year in and year out, as you have so eloquently demonstrated here, Clemson fans are better entertainment than the product the school puts on the football field!!! :flipoff2:

Only thing more entertaining to me than the Tiger fans (oops, I almost said faithful, but we know how that goes) is the the fantasy driven Gamecock backers. [I'm talking sports only, the vaunted Kraut mgt and engineering I encounter daily is better than a monkey orgy].
From potential National Championship via SEC champs (here I quote "I don't mind if we lose to LSU the FIRST

whoops, hit an wrong key somehow

. . . lose to LSU the FIRST time as long as we beat them in Atlanta in Dec." Then on to #6 in the country. Now looking at probable 6-6 and a stinker bowl if that.

I'm a Gamecock and Clemson alum and all that stuff but the 'fans' that pack the stadiums and airwaves make me weep with mirth.

Hey Andy
44-10
Enjoy your $ and enjoy drinking the WF kool-aid and imagining last year was anything other than the biggest fluke of this decade have fun at the Emerald Suck Nuts Bowl or the Blue Balls Bowl or wherever you end up.

Hey Richard - too bad TAMMY and co. won't see a picture like this any time soon!!! :flipoff2:

Oh yeah, GO COCKS!!!!!!!!!!
acccg2.webp

Whoops, I'll save you a step and correct myself here...

For Clemson to replace WFU as the current, reigning ACC CHAMPION and hoist that trophy while eating oranges, you would have to:

- Beat BC at home to get to the ACC title game. How did that work out again??? :grinpimp: Something about a soccer player was it?????

- Beat your opponent in said ACC title game. Too bad we won't ever know what might have been because Clemson sucks down the stretch... Ha, ha, ha.

Another one for ya Richard, just because what "might" have been...assuming you wouldn't characteristically choke in JAX...but then we'll never know and can only assume, based on recent perfomance, you would...

Hooo, ha. This is good stuff. :grinpimp:

Blah Blah Blah.....nothing like vomiting at the mouth....you guys crack me up......I think it's hilarious that Andy still thinks that the team from Christmas past is going to come around this year and win another ACC titiel for WF but instead the ghost from Christmas present put that to a quick stop this year. And poor ole Richard...we all know he talks real loud and that may be why he is so enthralled over the Screaming award in Death Valley....he'll find any way to make the sunshine come out on a cloudy day.....And Jeremy is currently applying for the recruiting position at Clemson so we don't have to bring in a soccer player to do his job....not to mention that Buckholtz that poor bastard was playin 7 days a week without a break....yeah I know he could of done better but he is one of the better kickers we've had in a few years.....but let me know how the interview goes....and David....man I never new a lawyer could be so honest....it almost makes me cry.....love you guys and damn it's funny to pick on you guys

Chuck

Chuck I like the Christmas touch. Getting into the season of things.

Oh and broke the 6k post mark. lol. Doesn't say a whole lot about me. Than I'm addicted to UC and tech on mud.

Good job at winning that ACC title last yr WF #2 for your shelves if you continue at the same pace youll tie Clemsons number of 16 titles in 2525  if we dont win any in between. Thats a blistering pace, to bad we'll all be long dead and hell will freeze over before then. I guess its true even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

Great day for football.

Tenn game was great. Kentucky should have won that game.

Georgia game was okay. Wife was happy the dogs won.

Perfect day to be inside and a fire going.

Cocks and Tigers game should be good.

No beer though as I'm still sick. Going on 6 weeks now. Going back to the Dr. Monday.

Oh and the LSU game was great.
