Keep it up, and keep posting pics. I'm living vicariously through you working on your GX...as I'm doing nothing more than filling mine with gas. :meh:

Also, please tell me the bay door was able to shut with your truck sitting there on jack stands...looks like it's poking out a little...haha.

Thanks man I will ... And actually no the door didnt close ... the shop has a bunch of junk in it to be worked on right now and i wantedted enough room to walk around the gx ... but didnt think i was as close to the door as i was ... not thinking it take as long as it did i didnt think anything of it until a storm rolled threw LOL ... I closed the bay as much as i could and i stayed fairly dry ..

. but i tore the both diffs out and reassembled it all back together last night so I was able to roll it back in to lock it up
 
Lol ... well before deciding to get on board air I looked into a power tank or CO2 setup for aux air supply but it was more expensive than a compressor. ..

So I ran into friend of mine who is an instrument tech and hydraulic specialist mechanic, deals with some refrigeration stuff ... and he's an off roader

Any-hways he says man "I wish you would have told me you were buying that ... iv got a few 10 lb CO2 tanks and regulators at the house you can have"
... so I was like "yeah I looked into it but I need a pump for the lockers too" ....
he says "I can set up exactly what you want to do just use a CO2 tank instead of a Compressor it'll even run your lockers "....

I'm still thinking about it but I'm leaning towards CO2 ... bc that's alot of money I can save ...and if I decide to I can get the smaller compressor later for just the lockers ...
I'm still weighing out the pros and cons ...

Any one with an opinion for either one Id like to know what you think

NONONONO! BAD IDEA!
OK so I know guys run co2 for lockers, but no don't do it, what happens when you run out of co2? What happens when you get a small pinhole leak? You s*** outta luck bro. I have co2 and and the compressor, I don't ever use my co2 anymore. That compressor is faster filling tires than any co2 tank could be. I know what you're thinking... "So i could just get a higher psi regulator to be faster..." right, nope wrong, while you might be faster for a little job like on tire, but the higher psi, the more frost, and you will freeze out your air line. My ARB compressor is faster at filling 4 tires than my co2 tank, and after 4 tires my co2 was done it had to sit for like a half hour or more to warm back up to be usable. And heaven forbid you ever leave the valve open on the co2 tank and don't know it, then go to use it... Yeah you're screwed. Anyhow don't get rid of that compressor. There is NO replacement for on board air. Plus that co2 tank will take up a bunch of room inside where as the compressor will be up under the hood outta the way. Trust me on this, I have spent over half my life wheeling and off roading and buying a co2 set up was the biggest waste of money I ever spent. I should have just stayed with on board air and gotten a real compressor(like our twin) from the beginning.

well those were the things i was worried about and good points too ... I'll probly just stick with the compressor for the simple fact that its less maintenance ... im thinking of mounting it where the spare tire used to be maybe with a 2nd battery
 
I have a compressor there in my 4runner and while it's nice that it's outta the way the draw backs are it getting dirty and water fording... You will need to run a "snorkel" for the air intakes, and make sure you put it inside of a cage or some way of protecting it from rocks and other things. I have mine mounted on the panhard bar crossmember just above the rear diff. Back their cooling is not an issue, but protecting it is the big issue and keeping it clean(mainly the wiring and connections).

well my plan would be a bolted in panel that holds the compress, battery, etc.... and the panel would have a hole in the middle that the original spare used to raise and lower it ...
so the entire spare tire void will be closed off
 
here is what i made at 38 pounds and tested by lifting the front of the vehicle by forklift

Let me know how you like the 4.10s and if you notice much difference, or wish you would have gone deeper(4.30), and if it's worth it... -I can set up gears and so I'd do my own set up, but in wondering about going to 4.10 with a elocker...

I'll be doing a report for sure ...
@SouthernSS will be doing that exact same thing himself soon but with 4.58 i think
 
I've been staring at the FJC axle with the elocker on it for a week now, just waiting to get some 4.56 gears in it.
