Had a pretty good stove day yesterday. Got another almost mint 502 and another 425 with Coleman griddle and stand for $35.

A while back I found a burgundy 200A online. Build date of 4-62 and it looked pretty rough but with the burgundies being so rare and the price was right so I decided to give it a chance. Still cleaning on it but I couldn’t stand not trying to fire it up any longer. A new cap gasket and pump leather was all it needed. Fired right up and runs crazy strong. Here’s a few pics first one is how it looked when it came in the mail.

Where/how do you find these prices???

Constantly looking online, but not on eBay. Craigslist, FB Marketplace, OfferUp will usually yield stuff at good prices. A lot of these things have been taking up space in people’s garages and basements for years so they just want them gone.

Here’s a prime example; I saw this ad on Marketplace for 2 old lanterns about 2 hours away. Couldn’t tell much about them from the picture other than one was “different” and it was only $10 a piece for 2 old lanterns. My folks were traveling through that area in a couple days and I made arrangements for them to pick up the lanterns.

When I get them back there’s a decent but very ordinary Coleman 1959 228E. But the different one turns out to be a world war 2 mil spec AGM model 3927. The AGM has the US stamp and everything. I go completely through the AGM and get it running, send the seller a picture of it all cleaned up and working and she tells me she’s so happy it was her fathers and it made her day seeing it fixed up.

Here’s a pic of the AGM cleaned up and running.

Well there goes today's productivity.

Found a 425B for $20. I'd rather get a 413. But that price seems pretty good...
I want a 502 for coffee. Can't find any for the right price.
Also need a 200 or 242 to go inside my 426. No dice. Guess I need to be patient.

Man I’m dying to find a 426B!! I’ve found several that were spotless but they’ve just been too far away.

What are your thoughts on this please?

Nice Coleman Military.

Anything in the parts well?

Don’t rule out taking a lap at the nearest indoor flea market or antique co-op. I’ve been pleasantly surprised in a few of them.

Nothing in the parts well. It's about 50 miles away so I don't know if it's worth the trek. Any idea what the value is?

I don't know the value but it is a 1958 and so am I. I wonder if it would run on white gas?

Yes.

That is my favorite of all the Coleman lamps!

Hmmm... what kinda gas mileage do you get?

19 MPG in my Taco. I'm not an intentional collector but this one interests me. I just haven't convinced myself it's worth the trek.

If you want a military the Coleman ones from that era are about the best. They operate a bit differently and the generators are built to be disposable.

And they are very fuel efficient if that matters to you.

Nothing new to show off, but I fired up this old “beauty” tonight to add a little ambience to our dinner on the patio. If I could only keep one lantern, it is this one (242C).

There is nothing perfect about it other than its collection of imperfections.

It has a slightly leaky valve stem when cold, but is the best runner in my stash.
