I don't mind the "non-build" thread status. If the op has other "old" or special purpose rigs that are kept alive it just means he has the chops and/or cash to do it. I like hearing about the other things people on this thread drive when the cruiser is given a break. How many pictures do we need of someone's first knuckle rebuild? (yes I've posted some). Unless one is willing and able to fab some unique bits and pieces, there's not much new that can be done to an 80 series that isn't somewhere in these forums. The one positive I see on these threads regarding the "mundane" pictures is that the sharp-eyed gurus will often catch an item that us newbees to the series will perhaps miss. This could be a missing bolt, a collapsed mount of some type, etc. @Dusten , keep this thing going however the hell you like, just keep us posted on this unfortunate transmission saga.
Now, I'm off to drop and give @baldilocks 20.

Ever feel like you have the worst act luck?

I ordered 2 parts for the hdj81 from partsouq.
12/29

I had heard nothing from them. So 1/14 I emailed. I heard back the next morning. They said my order was going to ship that day. I never got tracking so I emailed them again. They received my parts damaged. They didn't ship. They had to re-order them.

Oh well, my land cruiser is still at the trans shop anyways.

Shipping problems are a common thing these days. Seems no one is immune.

Wasn't the shipping issues. It's the fact that rather than update me on the status they made me inquire about thing.

Everyone seems to have great luck with them.

I sent them an email and they told me the same thing; “it’s shipping out today”. Then they shipped it. My understanding is they have multiple warehouse or “shops” as they called it an email response to me. That’s why shoppers sometimes see the same part listed twice with slightly differing prices, lead times and quantity in stock. Rarely, those parts get lost or damaged. They’re not great at proactive comms but they’re certainly prompt on requests for info. And they always address me as “Dear” and it makes me warm and tingly in my funny place.

I will agree. They respond fast.

Not much update on the canal boat

Converter and pump are still in Oregon. They're supposed to be back Thursday I think. It'll be 3 weeks by the time I get it back.

I will have had the truck 8 weeks and it's spent 5 in the shop.

Only 8 weeks? I’ve had this particular 80 six years and I thinks it’s spend 4 years under the knife. That’s just the way it goes.

Maybe that's the way it goes if you're building a rig.

This is a repair, not a mod.

I have built plenty of rigs and owned .ore projects than most. I'm well aware of how it goes.

When you buy a vehicle to be a daily driver and it spend 60% of it's early life in the shop is frustrating to say the least.

Well the Thursday update is
"I have no update"

I'm 41 and they're fine.
It's about proper equipment.
Plus I have arthritis in my back. Lifting isn't a thing.
But semantics matters

I feel like I’m tripping on shrooms when I see you two go back and forth.
Sounds right. I have to trip on shrooms to understand him
