Happy 4th of July 🇺🇲

Transmission is out on my modified floor jack. Time to find the leak.

Thanks. I am enjoying my leisurely Mustang leak investigation and hopeful fix. The rear main appears to be installed backwards and possibly some drivers side valve cover seepage. I'll get some new seals tomorrow and keep on trucking.....I mean reassembling..... :grinpimp:

Just need to reinstall the driveshaft, exhaust, and fill the transmission. First through, I need to fix this dog crap weld. I used a different exhaust shop and I regret this......welds by a shop should not look like this.
Here's a shot of my make shift transmission jack. I bolted this plywood to the jack and then ratchet strapped the trans to it. Work better then expected.

All finished and waiting to see if there's any leaks. Haven't run it yet. Gonna redo the exhaust hangers by the mufflers tomorrow morning.
Still need that power steering line and wire the trigger for the AC with the Sniper.......a few other small items as well.

Monsoon season is in effect here in AZ.......meaning humidity is way higher than normal. Makes the garage like a sauna.
Anyways, I added those exhaust hangers I was supposed to do last Sunday. Now the mufflers are properly supported and level.
Gonna hit it in the morning with hopes of finishing up a bunch of loose ends.

Thanks to the internet and boo hiss on the instructions. I found the fix to getting the gauge cluster to fit. You need to drill 2 holes in the dash structure for the studs on the back of the cluster. After that I got it in and screwed down.
Still need to tidy up some under dash wires and run and mount the ac duct.

Main issues I am trying to resolve are the power steering hose that's ultimately too short and needs rerouting away from headers.
Other issue is the brakes feeling super weak. I had adjusted the push rod but I went too long and it caused front brake drag. I readjusted and that seems good now. Need to fiddle with the rears now. They are barely making contact with the drums. More adjustment needed. Then recheck.

I used a brake spoon to tighten the rear shoes after the drum was installed. Seems much better based on the parking brake feel.
Then I pulled the master cylinder and bench bleed it. Got alot of bubbles out. Reinstalled that and pedal feels the same, but probably need to re bleed the hole system. Waiting for my helper now.
I could bleed it with my fluid pump, but it makes such a mess when you remove it from the master. I made a new high capacity catch can.

Bled the brakes and got some more air out. Got flow at every corner. They still seem weak.....bit this is non running with no booster assistance. Need to fire it up and do a brake test.
As for the steering hose.......I bought a couple 90 degree fittings. Luckily one clock's the right direction. This means my current hose will fit and is farther away from the header. I am gonna double wrap it with heat shield and test it out. Worst case.....I get a new custom hose made.
Either way, I can have it back together today, functioning and test the brakes.

Here's my double layer heat stuff. The high pressure line is about 1 1/4 inch from one header tube. It's double warped in that area and most of that is the metal fitting.
I can now run the motor again and test the brakes and how hot the lines get. I think it's good now. Also the way the line runs, it does not pull the 90 degree elbow loose.
