Going thru my crap, trying to reorganize to build shop out, finally piled most of my bikes in one spot. Kind of embarrassing to see such mayhem out of so many rides I love. Someday, I hope to get back on one ot two of them...

What’s the rig with the Moots stem?

What’s the rig with the Moots stem?

Looks like a Salsa, then again, I just zoomed in really really really tight

Hard to see whats in the pile, rough inventory...that is a Moots Smoothie Ti, 4 Kestels (2 CSX, 1 SC500, 1 km4000, this frame #2 of 1st true monocoque carbon frame produced), 2 Ritcheys (Thomas Frischkneckt’s swisscross raced in worlds, Softail frame 1 of 8 ever produced, raced in ‘96 Olympics), 1 GT MTB, Colnago velodrome/track bike...this doesn’t include the 5 boxes of parts/forks/shocks and who knows what else.

Yes, I’m a bicycle hoarder...

Quite a pile you've got there! If you ever want to offload any of those and are a 54ish / Med geo, let me know!

@jfz80 & @Mtbcoach Looking for advice. Running a 50/39/30 up front with an 11-32 in the back. I cant seem to get the extreme gears dialed in. For instance on the smallest chainring I cant get the lowest four cogs to work without chain rub in the front. Similarly, I cant get the largest chainring to work with the largest 3 cogs in the back. I know some of these are not really designed to run together (large/larges, small/small). Im just a little concerned that I have too many that aren't smooth. I would say out of the 30 total gears 23 of them work without issue.

My experience says that would be expected with such a wide ratio of gears. Some fine tining could give you some more gears, also converting to a MTB front derailleur that will have more range than the Ultegra cage you have. I’m sure you know that there are range limit screws on the front derailleur but my initial guess is that the Ultegra may not have enough range to work that combo.

My 2 cents...

Anyone remember the chopper? Or is that a more British thing. Used to think they were soo cool. I still have a Peugeot and some little vintage Italian racer rusting away in the shed. Promised I’d break them out and restore them at some point.

Pic for memory jog on the chopper.

Anyone want to ride 286 tomorrow before it rains? Let me know.

wolftooth makes some great stuff to allow you to up your range a bit too, or to run a wider gear range. you might need to mess with your b-screw, buy a longer one, or another option is the links that they have to extend the range of your rear derailleur -- via dropping it down lower. I'm actually running their Tanpan on my gravel bike as it allows the use of a MTB RD with road shifters (Shimano also has the Ultegra GS that can handle a 34t cassette) and is running a 1x setup with a 42t cassette in the rear.

They have some cool stuff. I am going to pick up, either one of theirs or Absolute Blacks oval chaining for my Yeti. I really dont need this many gears, and I really dont need the high speed stuff. Id really love to go with a 2x10 XT setup, but I wanted to get this bike together with what I had laying around.

Do you know if its possible to run a Mountain crank and FD with a road cassette and RD?

So how was bankruptcy?

Well at first it sucked, but Pat and Vanna were nice enough to let me spin again and on the next spin I won a trip to the PNW
