Good to see so many people active here.
I built a custom titanium singlespeed hardtail in January of 2023. It's superlight and fast but years of working on the Cruiser, camping, and driving have really impacted my fitness level. I've got to fix my drop post but hopefully I will burn in some singletrack here shortly.

Here's my old Surly Karate Monkey that I rode singlespeed rigid on the Uwharrie MTB trails. That was 26 brutal miles back in 2013.

Awesome bikes is that a Fargo in ti?

Well I will post this here since CLCC doesn't really seem to have any bikers and no where to post this stuff really....
not that mine is anything as nice as the ones here but ....
installed a new fork and handle bar on my bike.... upgraded to a Rockshox Recon Silver and Race face Atlas 1 1/4" rise handle bar.
Should hopefully make this years riding more comfortable

I also just got my new stem cap cover installed as well... Got both a Swedish flag and a Maryland one... I can easily swap them about but started with the Maryland one for now... cause it isn't just a state... it's a Cult!

No pictures, but it did happen. I got a ride in Thursday morning to try and beat the onset of this crazy heat, just did my usual suburban route. The highlight of my route is the short dirt and gravel paths in Sugg Farm Park/Bass Lake here in Holly Springs.

I had just got off pavement and onto a dirt/gravel path when I hit some very soft and deep fill at about 15mph, it grabbed my front tire and threw me down. Landed on right shoulder, elbow, hip. My head grazed the ground (judging by the scuff on my helmet), but no head or neck injuries. I did, however, fracture posterior ribs on my right side; and fractured my hip socket. My shoulder was killing me but scan/xray showed no breakage or anything, and it's getting better now.

Get to see the ortho Tuesday; ER said nondisplaced fracture of acetabular bone (hip socket). The broken ribs suck, but having experienced it before, not a huge deal. My hip/right leg, though - yeow! Can't walk without a walker and even then I barely scuffle across the room; getting up from seated is torture (took me 45 mins to get off the couch the morning after the spill). Seems I'll not be able to ride for at least 2 months.

Most importantly, the bike looks unscathed.

Man that really sucks and I am glad you were wearing a lid though! Every time I go out nowadays even on a paved bike path there is that moment that I think about not wearing the helmet and I remember stories like this and pop it on!
Hope the bones heal fast, even though they don't like when we were kids, and your moving about w/o pain quickly.

About twelve years ago I fell going supper slow at the bottom of a trail hill and couldn't un-clip from my peddle fast enough and landed on my arm and that hit my side and .... some bruised ribs... that hurt like hell for a few weeks! So I hope you heal up quickly!

So updates on my Trek Roscoe 6.... been doing some events like Bikes and Beers with it and they are all paved rides, both path and street, and the knobbies were not the best choice for that... swapped over to some Maxxis Hookworms and it really made a nice difference! Faster roll and much smoother for sure. I know it wasn't the best way to ride but its what I had to use.

A buddy of mine saw what I was doing and said... "I know your trying to get back into riding and into shape and all but man you are killing yourself this way!"
He recommended a hybrid bike for just the exercise and event rides since they are social rides not a race. "it'll save you and make you ride more!"

Borrowed his (Trek Verve) for a week and a weekend and did about 40 miles of solo and a few group rides.... damnit! I need another toy like a hole in the head!

So did some research and looking about on some review sites and used sites and places like FB Marketplace... Looking at different brands and styles... didn't want or need something flashy or top of the line it is just a workout bike.... right?? No drop bars... I'm not some bendy kid and the back hurts... not a race piece cause its for workout so don;t want super skinny tyres that will be fast but offer no comfort to these joints! Just a comfortable riding position basic and reliable...

......SO......

Meet the new toy.... 2023 Specialized Sirrus X 2.0 (M) in Gloss Limestone/Satin Taupe Reflective. Picked it up from a guy outside of Lancaster PA for a very decent price. His add stated he had only ridden it from the LBS home (10 miles) and a few times about his neighbor hood and stored it in his shed never in the weather. I took that with a grain of salt but when I saw the bike in person the tyres still had the whiskers on them! One very small scratch (not down to the metal) no rust not even on the screw heads and in perfect shape! Tubes were a bit flat but everything was working perfectly!

...so it followed me home!

Cleaned it up and wiped it down put my phone mount on it and promptly did 10 miles... the next day ( Sunday ) I did another 10 miles... and I fell in love with the color too!

So here are the last stock images to be seen because... well it's that sickness I and the rest of us have... Compulsive Up-grade-ism... can't leave things stock!!

Parts have been ordered (nothing major)... parts have arrived .... and parts have already been installed too (nothing major)... just waiting for one more that is due today and I will share!

LOL, I had some bike snob tell me I was killing myself riding the All-City Space Horse flat bar with 650bx47mm tires - but I've not ridden a more comfortable bike and it rolls extremely well! I just want to ride it every day, it's such a nice ride. That Roscoe with slicks is a great way to get in shape. :)

But the Sirrus X - that is a great bike! I was recently looking for a 2nd bike and had settled on the X4, but I hate that clay color and all other colors are gone; looked at used for a few weeks and none popped up, so I bought a new BMC Alpenchallenge 4 on a significant discount. The Sirrus X will be a great ride - they are so comfortable, versatile, and just go. Really hope you enjoy riding it, and have a blast with the upgrades! (I ditched the stock tires/wheels, handlebars from the BMC and went w/ tubeless 700c x 40mm on DTSwiss wheels/Shimano hubs; the day I crashed, I was supposed to pick up a tool to change the crankset, going from 42t ring / 175mm crank arms to 40t ring / 170mm arms, but that's on the back burner for now.)

Yeah I still love the Roscoe and will still rode it but doing city rides the Sirrus will definitely be the better choice.
The Roscoe is just a heavier ride by closer to 10 pounds!. It is a heavy workout though and that is good as well.
My buddy is not a true bike snob though, in fact he has a Roscoe as well among other bikes, he was just meaning the dragging of the extra weight and the bigger tires. So he was just meaning well.
He is just happy to see people riding at all.
