The wife and me finally upgraded and each got new Galaxy SIII thru Verizon (on another note: fxxx you Verizon for charging an upgrade fee and then for insulting peoples' intelligence by claiming it's to fund "workshops" because smart phones are so complex) and the first thing I did was root mine so that I could play around with some of the custom ROMs and various tweaks that rooting allows for. So far I've used AOKP Build 4 and Build 5, and now I'm on CyanogenMod 10.1 release candidate M2. I haven't had any actual problems with any of them so far, and so far the only differences to me (there are many; these are just the ones that I've taken notice of so far) are bootup times (AOKP 5 is best so far) and customization capabilities of each ROM. Overall I prefer CM10.1, but a big complaint I have is that it gives you this stupid crop layout when you try to use a gallery image as a wallpaper. I haven't seen any other ROMs do this. To get a better idea of what other complaints and/or problems might pop up, I figure I'll use a certain ROM for a couple weeks, then try another and just stick to the one I like best after I've have a chance to get deeper into them.
So who else has rooted their Android phone or tablet? What ROM are you using and what do you like/dislike about what you've used?
...and just for you iPhone guys I thought I'd share the boot animation that I put on my phone
