Not sure if your being sarcastic or not?

Just stating the fact that i dont have lockers and have not needed them for the type of trails i have been on. I have been really surprised at how well it does open.
I have walked through stuff that locked 80s have struggled on. but i also understand its mainly how you drive.

No I honestly had no idea that you had open diffs. I always thought it had the TRD rear e-locker.

Welll now you're just plain cool cuz you can out-wheel so many other people with lockers. (not-sacrcastic). :bounce:

Mainly i think its the wheel base. but driver has a big effect too.
I think a Taco run should be planned, and we can even eat tacos!

Sounds good, Taco Blanco :)

Thanks!

Oh you gots a 2010 taco come on lets see those pics.
2.7L is that a 4 cyl. then?

Yep, in my opinion the 4 cyl is an amazing engine :)

Some pics from a short trip today:

First mod is to get the front bumper replaced with something small, thin, and low profile. Any suggestions?

Amazing when you're only pulling the weight of the truck. Once you load it down with lots of heavy expo goodies, reaching fifth gear can be the human equivalent of scaling the Inca Trail to reach Machu Picchu.

i.e., bulletproof yes, strong no.

Has plenty of power for me. I'm not in a hurry on the freeway [or anywhere else], plus I'm a wilderness minimalist :)
It has a better power/weight ratio than my old 86 pickup with it's 22R, gets me 21mpg in town (25/26mpg on the highway), has been used for 15 years and is based on the 22R.... could it get any better? :D

To me its leaps and bounds better than the 13mpg, short stroke racing engine V6... ick.

Had the 22R on my last truck (an 86) - vastly underpowered. While I agree that fuel economy is not ideal in the 5VZ, I've never (ever) experienced 13mpg even on a bad day. Average fuel economy on mine, fully loaded, is between 17 - 18. Empty and on the highway - 21 - 23. But, with fuel prices soaring, one would argue you made the better choice. I guess it just depends on what you do with it -which is personal for everyone. To argue that one is better than the other is futile. In the end, it's a Toyota and that's what matters most to me. 270k, no leaks, and no complaints so far....

True points!

I'm glad to hear your 4.0 has held up so well; to be honest I also didn't quite trust it, since its only been around for six years [as far as I know].

My 22R was enough power for me even with a bed full of heavy stuff, I just drive slower. My 2.7 is as close to a diesel 4-banger as you can get in the US, and I have a thing for inline engines :p

I should also add some pics of my GFs truck sometime, she has a 2003 Taco, manual transmission, 4wd, 3.4L V6 [I love this engine]. Its basically stock but sexy none the less :p

Sounds like there's some confusion! I have the 3.4L V6 as well. Did I get the engine wrong?

Ah! I was talking about the 4.0L V6 they went to in 2005 - muuuuchh different engine!

When I got my truck, it -had- to be 2005 or newer (terms of loan from parents), so I picked the best Toyota for me that I could, so the 2.7L vs 4.0L was what I was faced with :)
