I agree with Chicago, I won't worry about the big butt until my hitch is worn out. I dragged the hitch a lot in Moab but was also on saggy leafs at the time. Looking forward to a return this year now that I have OME's.

Overall I don't see it as a make or break issue.

Either do I...thats why I chopped it off ;) :)

Pretty sick Loomis! I saw it in your avatar and wanted to see a big pic of it. You read my mind! Someday when/if I wad up my ass end, it may see a bob-job!

That is some impressive work Loomis!
Very nice!

All I can say about it, is THANK GOD for the trailer hitch!
Its taken a TON of abuse on departure and Its a good thing that I always had my tire iron with me so I could re open my tail pipe!:D
I did an SOA not too long ago and Im hoping that it will help with this issue.

Chicago

yea same here on the hitch.
i had mu exhaust dumped under the truck above the frame rail aiming down and in front of my driver side rear tire. Cat was removed and the flowmaster was installed in its place up above the skid plate. no more problems any more! well for exhaust. im in the damaged rocker club and also the broken axle club...

Sounds like you live with it (and get a trailer hitch :) ), bob it, or extend the drive line. The last solution would be most excellent but probably cost-prohibitive. There's a thread around here about that isn't there? All good to know.

I didn't realize bobbing the back was so common. Although the option to get a long-range fuel tank is a big selling point for me so I guess you just enjoy the good and live with the bad.

As said, lift and bigger tires helps the departure angle. Then drag it, grade a road for the shorties behind you. Honestly it's rare to get stuck due to the butt dragging. The heavy wagon will keep pulling.

The bigger concern is keep going forward. The butt dragging will prevent you from backing up. So you have to commit to going forward. The worst situation is failing a climb and sliding back down burying the bumper in the ground with the rear wheels in the air. You're done then.

Bummer.... I'll have to keep that in mind.

i passed on adding a trailer hitch, thinking it hung down too low. sounds like it is a cheap way to go until i can afford a big-bucks custom bumper. may i will get tapped at a stop light someday and add some coolness on the fix-up.

I can relate with the big butt:crybaby: My BJ 60 keeps scraping its rear on the trails when using 33x12.5x15 tires. My \solution was change the rim and tire's rim 16's LC 80 HD's and Michelin X 9:00 x 16 Nato spec tires. no need for additional lift from the one's i used on the 33's coz the new tires are thinner. The new spec gave me excellent ground clearance and saved me many visits to the body shop

do the wings help it fly over the low spots?

i also like the multi collored multi vehicle vehicle...

Wolf Den, any pics of those Michelins on your truck? I'd love to see what it looks like. Those 9.00 R16's are 36.5" tall. What lift do you have?

I love those Michelin's!

Are they XZL's? They are impossible to get in NA, as the fawking wars keep them in shortage.
