I am interested. Hopefully enough people would be interested to drive down the shipping charges.

Im in. If its junk I'll put it on my riding mower.

during our fall gathering last year I lead a group through a water crossing. Lesser lifted trucks had the water washing over the hood of the vehicle and the distance driven was more than 200 ft.

Now in stock form the 80 as well as others have a bladder of sorts nested in the fender. This way the fender itself diverts the water out around this bladder and maintains an air pocket for the engine to breath.

Now assuming this snorkel is designed similar to the Safari unit, you cut a hole in the fender and remove this bladder. Now if there was a leak in the snorkel tube itself I can see where it would actually be worse than if the struck was still in stock form. That leaking snorkel would provide a nice clean run right into the engine.

Now if your intended purpose if for a cold air intake then this is probably a great cheap option. But if you want a reliable device for deep water fording I would think twice until they've seen some extended use.

For $30.00 order an extra one. One for now and one for later when the UV rays damage the original. You are going to pay little extra for shipping the second one if they use the same box or same Bill of Lading. You might as well, since you wil have to pay for handling, Duties and Taxes and Customs clearance on it anyway. I work for DHL. (Sorry only do US domestic now but used to do Imports)

as said, it's really silly to paint all chinese products with a broad brush of junk. Do most people fret over their cell phones and computer parts because they're made in China? Check the label sometime on your prized electronics, you might be surprised..
Not to even talk about sophisticated electronics, I'm pretty sure the chinese guys can make plastic tubing as well as anybody else if they care to or somebody pays them to.
As to whether this is junk and won't last, I don't know. I'm sure it's possible. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. But saying something to the effect that the engine is going to be toast cuz you put the chinese snorkel on, puleeeze.... And I would think that if the water goes up to that intake you have other things to worry about.
Now, would I drill happily in my fender without checking 4x the cheap kit chinese template first? Not a chance in hell.
But would I drill without checking the australian templates 2x? No. Not that either.
Do I think that ARB would come close to acknowledging in its little write up that the chinese product is OK if it is? Nope too...
To be honest, though, would I put a chinese snorkel on my fender if I needed a snorkel at all? Well, probably not unless I know that another better one would fit the same hole, just in case...
Actually, would I drill a big hole in my fender at all? Hmmm.... do they have XXXlarge diapers? If so, maybe :D
Come to think of it, for $50, say, it's probably worth buying. If it looks like junk, don't drill, just tape it on the fender without the hole and you'll still get the babes -which is clearly why many folks out there put those things on for anyway... :D

yada yada yada, rambling mode off, it's all been said better above! :)

X2, I was one of the first to cry when Ingersoll-Rand took the 121 air hammer to china. Called a buddy who at the time was the president of the automotive division and bitched about it, taking a long term US product to china, the price didn't fall that much, etc. His reply was pretty much, wait and see, your going to like it. When the year end reports came out had to eat them words. My warranty repair claim was zero, company wide they fell 18%, it has continued to surpass the US version in every category each year.

... Hmmm.... do they have XXXlarge diapers? If so, maybe :D ...

Look up Depends, you are good to go!:hillbilly:

Sign me in , im very interested in this snorkels, for the price i will give a try, To quote most of the products sold here in America are made in china, if the same part have to be made here in USA probably will cost 12 time the price ,so lets support the china industry...

nothing new about any of this...
dinosaurs went through it all before us...

will it fit a 40??

hell for 30 bucks even if it didnt ad take one now and just hold on to it till i finally find my 80...
lemi know how i get in on this! :-D

Is there any reason or sense to put a snorkel in your rock crawling truck, i say these because most of us spend most of the time climbing, but never read a tread about crossing rivers that require the use of this item.....

These guys, at least I think it was this company, and a slew of other companies were at SEMA show last year. Those of you that went will remember the entire row of Chinese companies showing off all their knock off equipment.

I try to avoid knock offs when possible. I know we all buy Chinese stuff, for the people that keep saying that, but if there is an alternate option i'll go with that for stuff I care about.

quality items are made in china but the difference between them and knockoffs is that they are being produced in a certified factory on imported machines with lots of supervision.

Suicide rates are probably a good indicator of supervision and utimately quality control. Apple products come to mind.

Exactly. Products that are made in China but owned by U.S. corps, Ozzie corps, Japanese corps, European corps are generally controlled by much better QC than a Chinese factory owned by a Chinese company.

There are ofcourse exceptions though.

All the Chinese company products I looked at at the SEMA show just felt cheaper. Hell one of the ARB locker knockoffs broke on the display stand they had rigged up.

Take a look at the sheet rock problem down in Florida. That gives you a good idea how a Chinese company can F up something as easy as sandwiching Gypsum between two layers of paper.

It's all about who is handling quality control and the standards they hold themselves to.

there is a good point in here...

but these arent pieces that can cause our families to get sick... they are 2 dollars worth of plastic and a couple connectors... :meh:

i can also see the good in buying from dealers that love and support our vehicles and our passions... but saving $$ here lets us buy more of there stuff. I dont see a chinise made short bus, or set of rock sliders...

i know that atleast for me... the more $$ i can save does not mean more $$ in my "savings account" it means more goodies that end up on my cruiser :hillbilly:

No it isn't going to kill your family but something as vital as an air inlet to your engine is something to think about.

If the plastic cracks, warps or just doesn't line up right and causes a vacuum leak you could kill your 6k engine very fast if you do water crossings.

Now if you want a snorkle just for show then i'd say jump on in and don't look back.
