Stainless steel attachment points now reside where the rear seat back brackets nce bolted. A strap holds it down. 4 pieces of birch to top it off.

Still need to add the flip up foot extension and it’ll be complete. A couple of hinges and and a few corner brackets and it’s ready for a camping trip.

I’d guess under 60#. I’d actually be surprised if it’s much over 50#
So yeah, I hate this new spare set up. The continental look doesn’t flow on the 55. After SSS, I’ll figure out a rear tire swing out/ can holder.
I have to agree with you on that one, sorry to say. Spare tire placement for me is a big pain in my brain and back, I don't like it anywhere, inside , out back or on top. Somebody needs to invent a foldable, packable, light weight spare. Come on Pablo there's your million dollar idea. 
Head back to Idaho and we'll build two.
Can you chop and re-weld the tire mount higher/more vertical? Will clean it up a little
