Are people running out of things to spend their money on?
No, I think folks that wheel a lot tend to need to change out the spindle grease and repack the bearings on a more aggressive schedule. This makes that job quite a bit simpler. Are people running out of things to spend their money on?

I am new to the 80s, so I haven't taken apart the front yet. I can say on my 40 (which I wheeled the hell out of), bending a tab wasn't an issue. My understanding is that the front bearings only need repacking every 30K miles. So even with wheeling, I don't think it would need to be done more than every year. To me, saving five minutes or less every year isn't worth spending money on. But that's just me.
If you traverse water or end up in heavy silt you're well advised to pull the front hub bearings and re-grease them. You'll find many pictures of catastrophic wheel bearing failures on here due to moisture or contaminates.
ChiTown is dead on. I've gotten in the habit of repacking the bearings any time I've been in water up over the axles and have noted water in the hubs a couple of times. It's simple preventative maintenance, and the TG nut does save some time and headache.I am new to the 80s, so I haven't taken apart the front yet. Plus for those of us running 37 + tires we already have to toque our preload beyond factory spec... If this holds that preload longer I'm all for it.
But that's just me, and I check mine before every run... Hub failure is not fun.
Someone want to be awesome and post the "hotlink" to where these are found on the TG site...
Cause they aren't in the 80 section as Jose pointed out...

Aren't these the same as our rear spindle nut design? The spindles are the same fr/rr.
So we're waiting???I believe so. I purchased a a second set for the rear when I bought my front ones. I'll let you know when I do my rear bearings next weekend.
