Terra Grappler Tire Pressure

Im running 37psi on the fronts and 35psi in the rear for the street.

What do you guys suggest? The stock factory tires I had on before were 48psi!!

Not a suggestion at all but I'm running 45psi for all four on street.

When your running them on the street, you should have them at tire suggested max psi for better fuel economy. No reason to run them lower if your driving on paved road. It's not a sports car and will wear your tires faster at lower psi.

That is incorrect. It depends on the load range of the tire and the weight of the vehicle. My tires are "max rated" at 80psi. No way in hell I would run them at 80psi since me vehicle weighs only 40% of what the "E" is rated for. Changing from a P-metric to a load range E LT tire will change things a bit.

...also depends on how you load the vehicle.

Airing them up to 80psi is very dangerous. With an A/T tire, under heavy braking, the tire will skip on the road when the ABS engages.

Sorry, I should have reread my post. I meant the recommendation of the vehicle's max tire pressure which in fact will give you the better fuel economy.

Thanks guys.....I guess I'm running a little on the high side. I'm stil perplexed as to why the factory stock tires were in the high 40's, when in fact on the door frame it said the suggested pressure is 33psi

Who aired them up? Maybe their gauge was broken...

Don't you have the TPMS display on your info screen? You can check the PSI from there...

Hey JB...The LC came from the dealer with that tire pressure.

As for the in cab monitor display for tire pressure, I dont think the Middle East models get them...Maybe the Lexus gets it, but the VX-R doesnt.

What do you Terra Grappler guys air down to?

I run 35 psi on road and was doing 20 offroad, but noticed that the tires REALLY scrunch at such a low psi (not low for most rigs...but these are heavy beasts!).

I think I am going to go up to 25psi when offroad. At 20 my rim was almost touching the ground when propped on a high rock thus taking most of the weight.

Well, I was running around 35 but they looked low, plus my gas mileage stunk. I aired them up to 45 because I miscalculated using your formula. By that I mean I left out the final step (80psi - n = x). But they looked good and my mileage increased from 13 to 14.5 combined driving. Only downside is they feel "lite". Don't know if this is because of the camber, hi psi, or both. I'm going to run them like this for another tank, then drop them to 38psi when the bumper gets installed. After a couple of tanks I'll compare again.

Currently, my LC has the stock BS Dueller's and running them on 35psi. I am thinking about running them @40psi because they look low and it should help increase the mpg while running back and forth to my kids school (freeway travel). I don't know why my door tag recommends 33psi. I am sure it must be a handling thing.
