spent the last hour assesing the pig. what i have discovered, please forgive me since it has been since 2002 since i've owned a clutch operated cruiser, does the slave cylinder' s plunger where it hits the throw out fork have a cap of some type? if so that is what i am missing.

next question i need some advice to what chemicals anyone is using with success for treating rust.

Yes, at the end of the slave cylinder rod there is a rounded nut that contacts the clutch fork. There is usually a second nut behind it to lock it in place. Metal Wash is what I use but can't seem to find it here. Eastwood sell it online http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemType=CATEGORY&itemID=372 the site is down. I was able to find it at Advanced Auto in TN when I was doing my Dad's build. I'm sure you can find something comparable at Shannon's or one of the oil field supply houses. I'll look when I get a chance I need some as well to prep the frame on the 67 for painting. :) Whats nice about the metal wash is after you clean the surface of the raised rust it cleans and glazes the metal and serves as a primer.

upon further inspection there is something on the plunger i do not believe that it looks right, just not sure. i am willing to bet that more than likely that if i just bled it right that is the main problem.

also any one needing to purchase an in town high lift for the weekend the auto parts house in maurice has one and the right color red 78.00.

Mike I picked up a 8000 lb pintle today at Utec on Bertrand for $36.00. I looked everywhere yesterday for the D ring mount that bolts to the factory hitch bolts but didn't find one. It'll work.

What place is that?

I think B&M and Cajun both sell them for the same price range or cheaper. I thought I remember $70, I bought the 54 ' from B&M for $86.

i think it's called federated auto parts. only one in maurice. almost across the street from heberts. the jack is only a 48" probably won't do you any good after a 4" lift and 33's marty. i bought one yesterday in houston same price for a 60".

hey fyi talk to corey futch today he said to pass the word if anyone needs any thing from four wheel parts warehouse to pm him or give him a ring i believe he returns from corpus on fri.

mr marty hey spent some time under the truck today and i am pleased to anounce that the front axle has some 2 degree shims and the rear none. i really did not notice any vibrations, but these tires are worn fxxxin' irregular and outa balance.

you need to see this thing it will get your juices flowin' and that lift will be on your truck faster than..........

yes if anyone needs somthing from fourwheel parts I can pick it up for you. I will be back and forth for the next year.

well i went over to 'nonk will's house and he was able to help me bleed the clutch hydraulic system. i am back in action with a solid pedal and good engagement/disengagement! however i was right about the plunger on the slave itself not having the right end cap, matter a fact will and i discovered it wasn't even threaded. must be some kinda advanced auto zono'reilly's part.

damn master is going almost gone. scramble to make an order for parts. does any one happen to have a clutch master or rebuild kit?

I have a spare brake and clutch master brand new in the box from Spectre, is it the same as a 40?

it's the clutch master cylinder that is giving me trouble. it depends on what production date you bought it for your 40. if you have the 1/75-7/80 i doubt it. if your truck is 8/80-4/85 it may be very possible that is the only years 40's and 60's shared that clutch master. my truck is a 5/85 but most all the sites split the production dates differently some split at 4/85 some at 6/85 that is why i say it may work. my truck is the red headed step child fj60 so was my last one it had the same production date.
