Understood. I have the Kenda Klever RT 35x10.5 R 17 (P/N 601015). They make a 33x10.5 R 17. I used 4Runner 17x7 spare rims and got the tires from walmart back in March (?) when they were on sale for $130 ea. Too good a price not to try them. Mostly the price bounces from 175-200. I just put them on the troopy 2 weeks ago and I like the tire so far- I have spent about 14 hours driving on I40 with them and it is a complete game changer from the MTs on the highway. No off road use yet but they get pretty good reviews from the Taco crew. Definitely, no where near aggressive as your tires, but seem to be a good all around one.

Here's their complete "rough terrain" line.

So far, I concur...I am jealous that I never paid the low $130 (a piece) price for mine... :bang: Noise wise, the Kenda’s are a fine choice ! 👍🏻

For a 200, I’m looking at 34” or 35”. Example 35x10.5x17(35”) or 275/80r17 (34”) or 34x10x17
Currently on 275/80r18 (35”)

Oh wheel. Yeah 17x7 or 17x8. On a 200 35mm offset. 5x150 pattern 110mm hub
@alphaequipt
A true bead lock would be amazing

Hi everyone. Seeing that skinny tires are making a resurgence on preferred wheel/tire setups, I wanted to get an idea what wheel width and offset would you all prefer on say a 17" wheel?

17x8 - 17x9, 6x139.7 bolt pattern, 106.1mm center bore, 2.5" - 3" backspacing (offset would be dependent on width). I would also prefer a true beadlock.

If Kenda will keep making their 35x10.5, and other mfgs jump on board, a 17x7.5-8.5 w/0-+10 offset and Toyota bore and lug pattern for 80 series, tht would be great. Beadlocks would be icing on the cake! And load rated for a heavy pig.

Did uwharrie in the rain last night and today. Lots of slick red clay on the rocks and a few hills. I went up the hill in the picture last night without any real issue. Today a number of jeeps with big wide tires were coming down the hill claiming it was extremely difficult and good luck. I tried to get up the hill but couldn't make it. I felt my skinny 32x8 extra grips had met their match.. as it turns somehow all of the studs holding my right front locking hub on snapped and broke off. My hub was spinning but the wheel was not. Did not know this it happened till I got back out to the road to unlock the hubs. So I was trying to climb up the hill with only three wheels pulling.

Ok, so I’ve heard about tall skinny tires for years and Listened intently to many conversations and arguments. I’ve never heard or read what defines/qualifies a Tall/Skinny tire or is this the subjective manipulation of a handful of manufacturers facts pulled from a slick sheet, then inflated or deflated to drive someone’s position on the topic much like oil debates. Is it height/width of the tire relative to the vehicle dimensions? Is it just tires taller than XX” and narrower than XX”. Anyone have a good definition?

You know it when you see it?
I run 275/80/18, which skinnier than stock on my rig, and 3.5" taller. I think it's a tall, but but not really a 'skinny'. I would say a 255 (one inch or so narrower) would be for sure skinny on my rig. Of course the 200 is 6000lb, and they do look plenty skinny from some views. But a 255 on a Willys or a fJ40 would be beef.

These are Chinese made tires. I'd spend a few extra bucks and look elsewhere.
I agree with you **** CHINA!
Never a top choice of mine but the subject is Tall Skinny and I had not seen these before so I post them.
Seems like a few new options keep popping up every few quarters.
Take care PG

Sadly, us “beggars” can’t be choosers. Evidently if the American tire industry can’t make a bazillion dollars it just won’t happen here. Tall/skinny isn’t in the cards. I also detest buying from the far East... I surrendered to Kenda Kleevers triple side walls 10.5 X 17 X 35’s (as they’re advertised, but NOT really 35’s) ...made in Vietnam 😖 !
