good evening all,

so i have a 83 pick up with a flat bed that the PO added some crap of a wiring job many many many years back. now all that wiring is cracking and failing. does any one have a wiring harness from the cab back or how do i make one from the cab back. i have LED tail lights if that helps.

thanks again

Well, I'll tell you what I would do. Get new wire (duh). You can use trailer stuff that comes color coded:

Then use one of these pigtails to hook up your LEDS:

Many of the connectors on the Toyota harness use 1/4" spades with roll-over crimps. The female terminals are easy to find. The males are harder, but available. You just pick the old terminal out of the connector, crimp a new terminal onto your new wire, then insert into the old connector.

Here is the 1/4" female terminal:

And the tool you need to roll them over correctly:

Otherwise, just solder and shrink tube the old connector to the new wire, then wrap in split wire loom. I use the high temp stuff.

That is what I've done. Your results might vary.

My offer: I have a RIDICULOUS amount of wiring harnesses in my cache, I really want to get rid of it, now that I don't need it. All are from the '84-89 generation of trucks/4Runners. I just looked through my stash and I found a rear harness, the one that starts under the passenger seat and goes to the taillights. I believe it's from an EFI truck as it appears to have a connector for the fuel pump. It does have a trailer adapter spliced in, but otherwise is unmolested, just dirty. I have no idea if the plugs are the same as yours. Send me $20 to cover shipping and the cost to get it packed and sent off, I'll send it to you.

Other wiring I have extra that I want to get rid of:
Entire main and front harness from an '84 (carb'd) Xtra cab, complete
Front harness from '89 4Runner
At least one hacked front harness w/fusebox
Engine harness from '89 4Runner

Dang guys. I just got another harness. Dang. Dang. The good news it's a 83 so no efi.

Thanks for all the offers.
