Thanks man! I got my very first ticket at the infamous King City when I first got my license visiting Cal Poly for college. I learned my lesson since then.

x2, but it wasn't my first, nor have I exactly learned my lesson. 1980.

Last warning on King City. South of KC on the east side is a frontage road with some bushes just high enough so you can't see the CHP, they can pace you for a while when traveling north......

Good answer Doug.

LT the Friday night 8:30 PM high tide is minor so it shouldn't be a problem. Arrive at 2:00AM and you'll have a 10 lane freeway of hard pack sand.

When dealing will the beach, surf, sand, etc. I always say use common sense and make the call as you see it - when you see it. The conditions can change quickly. It can be VERY nice and easy or it can be VERY nasty and difficult. Arriving after dark your first time here you should be a little nervous and anxious. That's why it's fun and we like it so much. ;)

The worse thing that can happen is your rig(s) get bogged, caught by the waves and washed out to sea. :D

Thanks for the encouraging photo :flipoff2:

Okay for those of you that I am bringing 80 series sliders and installing them. If you want things to go faster please uninstall your running boards and any other associated junk that goes along with them. I know there is a plastic CAT gaurd that needs to be taken off plus the little mud flaps on the fender flares.

The other things that have to be taken off I will do myself when it comes time to install them. You guys will be very happy with the product. First run production of these sliders. We are very excited about them.

nah, don't worry about it, guys, Jim is just trying to scare you....
as long as you cross the creek within plus or minus 2 minutes of low tide, you'll be fine...! :D

1st Timer

Just read 11 pages of this thread (yes, on the late-freight). Sounds like SNT is going to be my FJ40's first big outing since I bought her (few month ago). Gonna change the oil and stuff this weekend. I'll be there with my pops or one of my 4 boys. Looking forward to meeting you all.

P.S.
Looks like I missed out on the T-shirts. Jim, any chance of post SNT orders?

you obviously weren't at S-n-T #2.

the creek crossing was very treacherous at night.

Well,

I just got back from a two week trip through mexico, but I guess I can squeeze this in to meet some of you folks and gather good cruiser ideas! :D

Who might be headed through the Salinas / Monterey area Friday evening that would not mind me tagging along?

I can leave my office around 3:30pm which is on Highway 68, about 15-20 minutes from 101 in Salinas.

Hey there jsuthey,

I live in Freedom / Watsonville. I work in Monterey and will be leaving after 3:30 pm. Should you decide to leave later in the day, let me know and I will tag along with you guys. If that is okay, of course!

John, South bound on HWY 101, you can take the HWY 1 exit and go through "downtown" Pismo.
