Question about driving in a car up to SNT
It looks like I won't be getting my Knuckle Job done in time. I need a couple of more days to complete it the way I want;without rushing it.
Can one drive up in a car and park somewhere and walk or get picked up at the entrance to the dunes? We would be leaving on Friday night to our hotel room.
We're staying at a hotel nearby.(Next year we'll actually camp out and I'll drive my 60 up there finally).
I don't want to miss hanging out with the friends I've made here and meeting new ones.
So can this be done?

before I say anything, I need to know what kind of car you're talking about...
the short answer is maybe - you can drive a car onto the beach and you may be okay, but I pulled a couple cars out of not so deep sand when I was out there this past summer. if you stay on the hard-packed sand near the surf line and air down, you should be okay, but you will likely have trouble getting into...or rather, out of...the softer stuff.
I've seen plenty of cars out there, so you may be okay...but you never know...
you won't want to walk because it's WAAAAAYYYYY out there.

for me that is,i won't be able to make it.things just spiraled down hill since saturday,starting w/ the galley plug in the cylinder head starting to pop out (caught it in time),sister-in-law is having a b-day bash for my yougest bro and my mom will be here as well.on top of that i have a diesel cylinder head that needs to be torn down by friday (cummins 6.7l)

hey mark, i apologize for not getting back w/ you on the phone,just been busy w/ cwap work (warranty).i will surely miss one heck of a get together.have fun hope you get some of that beer your talking about.i need a favor if you don't mind,if you could pick up my stash from jim (shirts & sweatshirt)also get me a plaque and couple of stickers PLEASE!!!
i'll pay you when i come by and help you w/ your A/C (i told you i'll hook you up).

Dan... What day/time you planning on heading out ??? Just curious.... I am driving our son's truck & thinking it would be nice to tailgate someone on the way over since this is it's first real road trip & Chris won't be heading over til later... If I can meet w/anyone great and if not then no biggie...

Food is in the fridge, camping gear is, as usual, already packed, new SBB-7 antenna for the ham radio is on the truck (tall sucker), wood is purchased. All I need to do is throw it all in the truck and on the rack, gas her up and GO!

There is plenty of parking around the beach entrance. I am sure that you could find a ride out to the site. It would be quite a walk though. Good luck
I will not make it this year. My mom has some heart problem, and I need to go see her this weekend. Have fun and take plenty of pictures!!!!
