thought about just running FS roads if there's enough snow to warrant the trip and if we find some minor wheeling then all the better. As far a New Years, maybe and maybe not.... check out the TN page

If I go out it'll be in the search of the deepest snow I can find within a reasonable drive, say the Hiawasee/Blairsvile neck of the woods. tomorrow night or Sunday morning will determine if I shoot outta here.

yeah pretty much, in a wait and see mode. If there's only a dusting I'm not gonna mess with it, if there's 3-4+ inches up there then I'll be heading north for the day +/-. Keeping my eye on the forecast..

We went out in the neighborhood this afternoon and had some fun on a walk and had to use 4wheel to get up driveway. I
have some funny noise coming from engine and the smell of a belt burning. I think it is my strrering pump as it has made some funny noises as of the last few weeks.
So as much as it would be fun to go I am not sure I should go as I do not know how long my steering pump will last. Thoughts?

Andrew,
I think you already said it ... park truck until you get it repaired. If it gives up the ghost riding tomorrow, your fun will be end unpleasantly and the convoy home may be equally unfun for you & others.
Check for open seats?

PS Do you have a smog pump? The smog pump on my 40 gave some warnings like you describe and it seized hard within a couple hours of the first warning. (on the way back from Tellico on Spur 61 and at night to boot)

No smog pump on my truck and I doubt it is an ac compressor or the alternator.
I was listening to it the other day and it resonated from the power steering pump.

It did quiet down after a while (only had it running for about 20 min and a few miles)
I plan on taking the belt off tomorrow and listen with a stethescope of some sort.
Sucks as it would have been fun for a run up to amicalola falls or something.
