Way to go Mark! This is how the content stream of TT gets changed: by guys stepping forward and doing it:)

Mark rocks!

Well, maybe kinda more "folks," judging by the campground guitar circle at Roundup;)

I'd like to see more "Outta Da Box" type stuff - definitely NO purist type stuff here. More buildup type articles - less old skool stocker trucks w/ 2" lift & leaf springs. Resto columns toothat the purist in me would like. Not really into the expedition vehicles either. More stuff like Profitts or any other LC on Rockwells or Mogs. How about articles on LC's that participate in NEUROC or any othe comps. Just my take on it.........

LC Hamma;
Thanks for the input. As you know, there is no Toyota Trails staff...other than guys just like you. So...if you want UROC coverage, or buildup stuff, please cover an event, or document a buildup...take pics...write an article, and send it in. That's just how it works.
If I had a staff, and a budget to pay for one, I could hand out assignments like that.
"Hey Joe, go write this article for me."
But, we gots no staff. Other than you! So go write that article for me:)

Yeah, I know there's no staff, I guess I'm preaching to the choir here. Since I've already posted most of my buildup pics, there's no need for an article. I *could cover a NEUROC comp this summer & write an article though. Maybe interview one of the LC guys too.

For all the members. Looking back at the November/December issue in 97' on the cover is Don Kennedy in his fj45 plowing threw the snow in Grant's Pass,Oregon.Beautifull picture. On the inside of the back cover there is the Associates Member Directory along with a Legend on the right hand side of who sells what and discounts they give if any.Back then, as a new member I looked to this in every issue to buy products from. Maybe we could bring this back for all the members that are new and don't know much about the benifits of being a TLCA member and the shops out there, also the web sites that support Toyotas.

So, is that how it goes Todd? Now not only can't I tell what I've written, but can't even tell when they're likely to see it? :frown:

See now I thought that the anticipation of such a worthy article might get a few souls on the fence to anty up some dues! :grinpimp:

I'm telling ya dude, we gotta go monthly. I've got 3 more articles in the pipeline already! :D

You can do whatever you want, of course. I'm not your mama. But not paying attention to the former certainly reduces your chances of being able to talk about the latter. :D

I take some and leave them in the service waiting room at the Toy dealer here. Been doing it for a while. Eventually the techs started swiping them. Customers started swiping them. I now get calls asking when I'm gonna bring more.

Maybe we need a "Corporate Rate" for businesses that want to recieve several copies? I know David Gibbs used to do the same thing around here, he'd drop 10 copies off at the local Toy dealers parts counter.

As far as the "it's your magazine" "step-up and submit an article" rhetoric, that's a bunch of b.s. I'll stick with posting my "Jackass-Built" crap on the web and in my local club's news letter as my writing skilz aren't up to par for the Texas Trails.

This is about the 4th or 5th "covert" slam on LSLC I have seen come across the web in several places, and it is bull****.

We started this club with nothing and have built into the premier club in TLCA, yes we have members that contribute, they can't spell but have friends that can.

If you don't like the fact that LSLC has become a major part of TLCA, and Trails.

Sure as hell ain't gonna get no better soon. :D

On the 28th of this here month, the TLCA BOD is gonna vote on The White Trash of the Elwood Chapter becomin' a gen-u-ine Chapter. :grinpimp:

If'n that happens and we get in, that means we get our own little Chapter update in TT. We gonna bring down the writin' skilz to a whole new level. :bounce: :bounce2:

Lead, follow, or get the hell outta the way my man. :crybaby:

I have heard this a couple times from individuals, if you feel you need to make noise to be notices, do it.

It worked for Mark, he was not happy about submitting several articles and not being printed.

Also....... I am looking forward to reading his restoration report in the next trails.

I recently joined the TLCA and hope to see more and more members writing in the TTs.

I think calling it the Texas Trails however is a little out of line, were all on the same page and working together for a better Trails Mag.

A couple of things here.

First, the whole "Texas Trails" thing is pure bunk. We publish the highest quality articles that are submitted. It just happens that Lone Star tends to submit just that, quite often. It might interest you to know that I have several articles from Lone Star members that have been sitting around as long as other non-LSLC articles, waiting for an opportunity. There's no bias. If you want your end of things covered in Trails, write a decent article, take some photos and send them in. Your chance of being published is as good as the next guy.

Second, and I actually take more umbrage at this, no one pressures me in any way to publish their articles in Trails, at least not successfully. And Mark certainly didn't pressure me, nor was he frustrated that his articles weren't being published. He started submitting articles, Trails started publishing them, simple as that. He saw an opportunity when Ross Lake decided to take a break and he acted upon it. And that was the first I'd heard from Mark. He didn't "make noise." He started writing.

There's very little intrigue around the palatial Toyota Trails offices. We're just TLCA guys trying to piece together a decent magazine in our spare time.

IIRC, most newspapers attempt to write their articles to be understood by an 8th grade audience....that should get most of us published.....with luck, even me! :flipoff2:

my initials ain't BS for nuthin.....

course, there are no photos uploaded yet...don't get too excited....lol

may rename the section too... woody's workshop (all lower case) ;)

I wasn't bashing on Texans writing skills with the use of skilz...just poking fun at my own. The slam was not meant to be covert either.

KOWBOY, I like your style of writin' and am looking forward to some WT articles.

I am just jealous, don't get so defensive guys.
