Hey guys and gall,

I stumbled into this add today and it got me thinking of taking on another project.

Here's a pic.

I asked for some more pics and info and this was his reply:

I will send Pictures next week. I am 76 years old and don;t want to crawl under to take Pic's. My buddy will be home next week and has a heated shop. Sorry for the delay I will try to ge t as many as possable. Thanks Bill

These pigs are pretty rare in Canada.
Does anybody know this one? Any ideas, advice, recommendations?

I'm liking it so far, even if it just fantasizing about it :p

The only problem I am having is that I don't have any place to store or work on it (if I were to pull the trigger on this one.)

Hey guys, time to revive my own thread.
I asked the guy for some pictures and he never responded. So I just let it go and forgot about it. But a while ago I noticed that he started posting here on ih8mud (click). Just one post so not a frequent visitor. I saw that a few mudders replied. Care to share your info?

It then appeared again locally for $3k.
I thought I'd give it another shot and asked for some more info and pics this morning and look what I got.

I had it advertised for $500 then droped the price to $3000. will take $2500 ab=nd if it dosnt sell this week will take it to my mechanic and let him sell it. Bill It has to go
(typo's makes him look desperate lol)

And some fresh pictures

Here's the thing. I'm a Toyo buff but I'm no expert on Fj55's. I wouldn't mind however adding one to my stable.

When I restore a vehicle my preference is to bring it back to original. I am trying to figure out if this is a project worth taking on.
I asked him if it was complete? Any parts missing. All original?. His answer is 'It is all there. You could drive it home.'

But looking at the pictures, I see a lot of home brew, like the inside door boards, the tail gate, hood latches. etc..
What else is not original? Its a '78 according to him so the tail lights are original right? (I would prefer the small high mounted ones.)
The asking price seems low (and tempting) but I know that when taking on a project the initial purchase price is irrelevant especially if I have to source hard to find parts.

I need to be educated.

Looks like lots of PO mods, de-smgged (no air pump for one) if that makes a difference...

First thing I saw as a problem was the roof rack. Holes in the roof means rust and dents. Headliner probably needs replacing anyhow.

Yeah, you are right. Lots of PO mods (and #$%^ ones at that) is not a good sign. I'm not sure if this one came smogged (is that even a word?). It is located in Canada (so am I) but could have been imported from the US. My FJ40 has no smog equipment, but it came from Europe.

Good call on the roof rack!

At this stage, perfect pigs are made, not found. That's a lot of pig for $2500, especially if you can drive it home.
Churchill said it best...."Perfection is spelled p-a-r-a-l-y-s-I-s."
