with a normal club on the wheel maybe 3 minutes (thieves just hacksaw the steering wheel and slip the club off). So take a look at this option.

Martin, how does it work if the club is placed so it cannot rotate around the steering wheel? I usually use two, one on each side of the steering wheel spokes so a thief would need to cut the wheel twice to get both clubs off.

I'm up for a ride along if the truck or parts pop up.
I've had in the past 10 years, my tools stolen 7 times. Each time it was around $1000.00 - $4000.00 in tools. I've tried everything and now I had enough. I've built a full cage in the back of the truck that goes behind the rear seats, all the back windows and I have one of the American Lock hockey puck locks on the back. So far nobody's tried to do anything stupid.
Every time it happened I would spend around 2-3 weeks looking around in the usual places with no results.
I got so bad 1 year I had the Home Depot tool guys ask me how many Sawzalls do I need since I keep buy them.
It ruins all the fun out of buying tools when it's always the same ones.

Just reading here and want to say I feel for your pain...That is terrible. I hope it turns up and without damage.

Might I suggest removing coil wire to anyone parking for a long duration. Would stop any would be thieves if it took too long to figure this out.

A friend of mine in the past had a recurring problem with thieves stealing just his car stereo. After several high end units stolen, he rigged up a rod with razor blades and attached it under the dash just below the stereo....One day he found a mess of blood in his car, steroe was still installed. That must have been a surprise to the idiot would be thief.

Good luck, hope it comes out good for you

I haven't seen one stolen with 2 clubs, yet. Seems like a pretty good idea if you could put them on so they'd have to cut the wheel twice in 2 different areas, as it would be really hard to drive the vehicle. But if you work it out, it could still be possible for thieves to make 1-2 cuts and slip the clubs sideways and push them off. Even the autolok can be defeated but it's a lot of work. Most thieves just carry hacksaws and basic tools, not cutting torches (so far).

BB, I suggest leaving it for a day or so for the guys following this and then delete. Everyone should make sure they put the switch in different locations - both hidden (ie not in plane view) under the hood or in the cab. If the truck is parked for a while, just pull a battery and hide it a way. Or jack it up and take off a wheel. Thieves are usually lazy and will just move on to something easier. Otherwise, they would have a job and work like the rest of us.

Very common here in Central America is to have a small thin push switch UNDER the carpet. Completely hidden unless you rip up the carpet yet easily and discretely pushed when needed. If you can only find a momentary switch then use a latching relay.

I feel for you man, i had my 60 stolen from the abbotsford mall 2 years ago, pretty much the saddest day of my life, greg might remember that. I got lucky though, it was found 3 days later with very minimal damage. I'll keep my eyes open though, good luck

Thanks Brownbear for the info. I also have copied it and saved as a word document if anyone needs it after deleted. I will be doing this on my 42 ASAP!

NickW,
Not to bring up the past, but I think my friend has your old ARB bumper from your rolled HDJ81 on my old HDJ81 (I sold to him). Confusing? Nevertheless, it looks great. (...sorry)

No worries. It funny just how small of world it is.
Most cruiser people now, or are in one way or another connected.
Hopefully both are working out for your friend quite nicely.

As for vehicle security, I guess we can never have to much.

Cheers,
N.

I just remembered something, a friend of mine used to get his van broken into all the time. He has some questionable friends and managed to get (with permission) an H.A. sticker for his windshield. Never had another problem.

Yah I think that would work.

I wonder what other grief it may bring about....................... I dunno.

The side effect is sometimes worse than the drug :D

Just a little side note about clubs/alarms etc:

A vehicle with an immobolizer type alarm will get a discount on their insurance from ICBC.
And from what I have heard about 'the club', you can get your deductable waived or returned somehow.

and a fj45 can be broken into with a butter knife/popsicle stick.

***RECOVERED***

Thanks guys for all your concern and keeping your eyes open. I dont know where it was found yet (cause I forgot to ask due to the excitement!), but the truck was recovered on April 5. As told to me by police, no apparent damage, but possible loss of goods from the inside.

Grill the cops on the best way to theft proof the truck and then let us know! Unfortunately I tend to spend time where Nickw's 'Cruiser was stolen from seeing as how it was in front of my parent's place.

I use two clubs on the steering wheel with each club on the opposite side of the spokes.

glad to hear, hope all is well with your rig ,
i've been on the look out all week . :bounce: :bounce2:

Congrats! Now she/he (your truck) may feel a little numb... lots of love, and perhaps some quality time together and a wash or two might make him/her feel better :)

Did they catch the culprits?
