I am looking forward to this ride too, its been years since I have been to the Cove...

No "Hooker's Heel" trail for me this time

Come on Hookers Heel was the best thing to ever happen to your 80 :hillbilly:.

How about Jason and the new Guy???

How about Jason and the new Guy???

not heard anything from Jason since the other day, I think he lurks on here about once or twice a year so maybe he'll post something. New guy- Scott(?) I dunno.

Haven't even begun to work on the 2F race motor swap. So I'm planning on being there. Ted we'll coordinate the exodus
from the Flying J in Resaca, looking forward to it!

Ben, Hendog -- hopin you guys still in for this. How's the Han 1 departure sounding? Thinking Resacca Flying J about 8:30, that gets us in Jasper around 9:00 CST and on the trail by 10~ ish CST.

That sounds fine to me! See y'all then unless I hear otherwise.

Ted, is that a day early? Think I can Do as well. Will we base out of one campsite? (Thinking Big Tent!)
I think I need to trailer to the trailhead like you as well! Dreaded Death wobble!!!! Ever since I launched over the Earthmover Tires at Golden Mt-LOL

Yup a day ahead of the main crowd, problem is that it's a huge group and I don't have any clue (right now) where Roger intends to camp. I guess the options are obvious: 1) throw down wherever and relo on Friday when they go bouncing by, or 2) land in the right spot the first time with a little help from the trail gods, or (I guess) 3) is pick a spot big nuff for everyone on Thursday but that puts the responsibility on us.

Andy indicated a safe place to park about 1/4 mile from the trail head. I trust Andy but have to admit I'd be x-ing fingers the whole time!!!

Hey dudes. Do you think my stock 80 would be ok at this spot?

interesting screen name, welcome. Depends on what ya mean by stock. We talking grocery getter with street tires? Rock sliders would be a recommended addition.

Thanks. I just got it a few weeks ago. Stock suspension, 31" geolander A/Ts and no sliders yet. I want to get it on the trails and see what she can do, but Im a newb and dont want to hit the really hairy stuff until I can get this thing built up a little.

a good starting platform for sure. Obviously we want to encourage your involvement and participation so again welcome!!

Hopefully other will chime in specifically Nick who is taking his mildly built 80 - basically 33s with small lift and a CB. Truth is you will likely be OK if you're open to direction and some tire spotting so gather up your gear, get a CB(!!!!) and we'll be happy help out where needed.

Awesome and thanks again! I'm really looking forward to meeting you guys and doing some wheeling. Also very open to instruction as the worst stuff I've done so far have been some logging roads and haven't gotten too technical.

@Pippylongsausage if you haven't already, pop over the the STLCA clubhouse and post up in the thread of the same name there, if you haven't already. The club is sponsoring meals and want to get a good headcount. They also would be very capable of letting you know how a stock 80 will do.

My guess is as long as the creeks tame all will be good. Since the trail follows and crosses the creek, high water could be your most likely concern.

thanks Jynx, both very good points. I sometimes forget about how high the water can get after a good rain though I should know better.

Easy to do now that you are ballin' on 39's. Water has to be 3 feet deep before you even think about getting the rockers wet :smokin:

you my friend are actually not far from the truth, damned thing is up there. Might have to get out the ole trimmin' scissor and take it down a notch but gonna have to wait I'm afraid.

just kickin' this back to the top witha throw back pic.

Sept 2011 - Recovery the next morning after a good night of wheeling.

I just got caught up on this thread. As for pippy, I have only been to the cove once so I can't really say much, but there is a 4Runner guy that likes to go (Andrew) and I am pretty sure you can go just about anywhere he can go. @tkinze I have 35s and lockers too (and as of this afternoon, leds)
