Hate to harp, but there are currently over 20 rigs going so departure is going to be important. It has been stated over there but for you guys who may not have checked lately, the cb and 2m channels are listed. They plan to leave at 10 sharp, so plan to be early. With a group this size, to get in and get camp set up before dark the clock is going to be ticking.

Also, this is not a if your late try to find the group kind of place. Getting lost is a real possibility if you have never been and cell service is all but non-existent, so lost is lost. Also, this is a true expedition style trip. 2 nights in the woods. No amenities or running to get water or fuel.

Not trying to be a tool, but I don't want anyone not knowing what this trip is to get in and be like WTF am I going to do. Bump over to the STLCA thread and read thru and add your name to the list.

Thanks,

Thanks, I'll do that now. Still working out a few base lining items including a rusty brake line that gave up this weekend. Replacing all of the brake lines currently and should have it ready in time but at the moment I am enthusiastically "maybe" going.

Not trying to be a tool,

Thanks,

No that ship sailed already. Came all the way down to ATL empty handed and didn't bother to stop for beer either. :deadhorse: Just kidding of course, like the bumper.

with so many Friday departures you guys won't hit camp til dark:30. We should start a bracket bet on how long it's gonna take, I'm sayin' arrival at 4:13PM

I just posted up on the STLCA thread....I am in and aiming for the 1st...I guess I can miss the Auburn bowl game

D@mnit!! That trans should be at your house collecting dust tonight instead of mine... I am out on the expo run this go around, but want everyone to be safe and have a great time. Lots of travel for us over the holidays. I owe you a tall cold one next time our paths cross.... and a 5spd.

Also, thanks for posting over in the STLCA thread. That will help with the prep and planning.

Pippy, I did it in my mostly stock 80 with 285 AT's twice. It is definitely doable. I did get my cats into a rock that was the most significant issue I had.

If you look up the Queens of the Cove thread in the STLCA clubhouse you can see my 80 and Matt's 100 that wasn't lifted at the time either I believe.

So are we setting up camp once and base out of that area each day, or will we Expedition ride and be on the move more than once????

good lord man, I hope not. I have no interest in tearing down camp once it's set up. Andy gave me pretty good directions for the campsite, I just hope I can find it now.

10-4 on base camp, I'd prefer setting up once and tearing down once.

I thought we were camping in different locations during the trip too, that is why i was planning on setting up shop in the back of the 80. Either way, I am still sleeping in the back of the 80...

in years past we have camped in different locations each night. i think that goes out the window when we have 20 trucks going. there just arent that many spots out there that can handle that many

So I can Bring the Big tent and set it up once???

Absolutely, you can drag it behind your truck and hope it stays in one piece and does not get muddy when we break camp and go elsewhere...:grinpimp:

Andrew--got your VM and sent you a text.

The way we got it figured for Thursday is as follows - Remember we change from EST to CST. ALL TIMES LOCAL

Thursday:
  • 8:30 AM EST-- Meet at the Flying J in Resacca (usual location) we usually leave ON TIME
  • 9:00AM CST (10:00 AM EST) -- arrive directly at the TRAIL HEAD, shuffle tow rigs back to Jasper and final packing of trail rigs.
  • 10AM CST (11:00 AM EST) --Wheels a-turn'n on dirt and headed toward camp.

WARNING:
for those meeting on THURSDAY!!!!!! DO NOT BE LATE. It's rare that don't leave on time and if you're late there's a good chance you'll be navigating solo.

Unfortunately I'm out this time around.... However, I'm going to do a day trip at lovely Durhamtown Plantation on Tuesday or Wednesday. Not trying to high jack but if anyone who can't make this trip want to link up, shoot me an email. :steer:Danielswatters@gmail.com
