I'm not too worried about them sagging too much, I would like them to be as flexible as the rear chevy's. But if the sagginess becomes an issue I will have a full set of FJ60 springs to beef them up with, or I could pull from the FJ62 front leaf packs that will be free.

On a side note, I found a guy selling some 16x10" rims with a 4.5" backspace local to me(New Jersey). Only problem is he wants to sell them with the current tires on them. Is anyone looking for some 38.5" Mickey Thompson MTZ's?

About the wheels, the only one who has said anything is manuchao, and its not that I don't trust him, I would just like some other peoples opinions. The stock wheel BS is 3.75, the new wheels would be 5" BS. 5 - 3.75 = 1.25. 1.25 x 2 = 2.5. So wouldn't that have my rear axle 2.5" wider that currently? Due to the fact that the FZJ80 axle is 5" wider than the FJ60. Then with the 2" spacers on the front axle, that will be 1.5" wider than stock.

I know my turning radius will go down due to this, but can anyone think of any other problems that might result from having the increased axle width? Or having varying widths front and rear?

FYI my previous set up (fj60 frame & axles) I used to run 15" rims with 4.5 BS.
I also had 2" spacers on the rear and 1.5" spacers on the front....
The reason for this is cause I wanted my wheels/tires to look flush with the body (not tucked in and not sticking out). It looked pretty good......

I too, like to hear other peeps opinions.. as Im no expert on this....but learning as I go...!!
Everyday I learn something new on this site !!

On my stock width axles, I have 15x10" rims with a 2.5" backspace. It sticks out just a hair but it allows my tires to tuck right up into the fenders at full stuff.

As for the front axle, why don't you go with this kit from Sky to match the width to your rear axle?
Toyota Wide Axle Kit - Sky's Off-road Design

I really appreciate all of the input. To hear that the tires will be about flush with the body is great to hear.

GLTHFJ60: I saw that kit before, Does it come in varying thicknesses? because if it came in a 2.5" version that would be perfect.

No, because it uses the IFS hubs, which do not vary in offset. There have been a couple of guys who ran that kit with a FZJ80 rear and it worked very well for many miles. Fogblanket was one.

So in order to use this I would need to go get some IFS hubs? How much does this widen the front axle?

Yes, you'd need some IFS hubs from an IFS 4-runner or pickup. You get 2" per side with that mod.

Are there any benefits to changing the hubs? Are the IFS hubs stronger, also how many splines are on those/will they work with the stock birfs? If not I really don's see any reason why I should do this instead of spacers,

Splines?? There are no splines on the hub nor do the hubs affect the birfs at all.

This mod exists as a reliable way to widen the front axle to match up to a wider rear axle. Some have had problems with spacers loosening up over time and this is a permanent modification that emulates the factory IFS hub setup with the stock brake calipers and rotors.

Spacers will do the same job but you might have issues with them down the road.

EDIT: What you're thinking about the splines on the birfields is likely the outer hub assembly ( silver part and selector dial ). That assembly bolts onto the IFS hubs like it does to the factory hubs.

So I just need to pick up this piece right? If thats the case, I know there are two v6 4runners over at the local P&P. Should I grab anything else off of them while I am over there? I do like the idea of using these instead of the spacers. I just don't want to drop a ton more money into my money pit of a front axle.

Exactly, that and the kit from Sky. To be more specific, the cast metal hub that the wheel bearings ride in and the wheel studs press through.

Anything else you might want to grab, probably the MC, the front calipers, DC driveshafts if the trucks have it, etc. There is a ton of parts that you can grab.

Isn't that what I have the arrow drawn to?

On the 4runners I already grabbed the MC and calipers, do the V6 4 runners have a DC front shaft? Also if you could be a little more specific about the ect. I'm not sure what else to grab.

That is what you have the arrow drawn to, I was just giving it a good description for you to explain to the junkyard guys exactly what you want.

Well, if they have top shift transfer cases, you can steal that to make yourself a Toybox, if it's a manual transmission you can sell that off to somebody if you can get it cheap enough ( I believe the V6's came with R150s ) and then there are the random toyota switches in the dashboards that can be used for various electronic projects. The 4runner might have a inclinometer, so that would be cool too. Just go over the truck and see if there is anything on it that you might be able to make money off of or use on your own rig.

I didn't even think of taking the TC for a toybox, great Idea. That's why I love this site. Where can I buy the adapter for mating a 4runner case to the split case? AA? Is there a specific transfer case I should look for?

That I do not know. I believe as long as it's a top shift, gear driven case, you should be good. There are threads out with instructions on how to turn a gear reduction case into a doubler, but not sure where I read that. If you shoot Marlin @ Marlin Crawler an email he can answer your questions.

Its not possible to turn two LC cases into a doubler is it?

Nope. Mini cases are different in that they have a gear reduction portion and then the portion to split power to front and rear outputs. LC cases do those two tasks within one housing that cannot be split up that way.

Ok good to know. I was looking around trying to find a way to adapt the 4runner or minitruck case to the 19 spline splitcase and couldn't find one. Is the only option to go with a toybox? I will have to call marlin after work to see how much the adapter plates go for.

A doubler would be pretty nice to have, considering that the truck is pretty heavy. The only issue that I could think of would be is there a way to adapt an NV4500 to the minicase? I would hate to spend all of that time/$$$ and have to get rid of it later.

I have absolutely no clue if the NV4500 can be adapted to the mini case. Another question for Marlin I guess.

I like the idea of the widening kit to better match up to the width of the 80 series rear. I'm very curious to measure and see just how wide (in comparison to the body) my new wheels and tires will make the wheelbase, and then compare the additional 5" from an 80 rear.
