Well, in either case I will call marlin tomorrow, and hit up a junkyard, see whats available. If the 4runners are still there I will definitely grab the ifs hubs from them.

Also I got my ruffstuff SOA Kit in the mail today, I feel bad for the mailwoman, she has to carry these 50# packages around. I do love the fact that they cram all the metal into those flat rate boxes though.

It cost 11$ to ship roughly 100 pounds of material to NJ from ruffstuff. I bought some replacement leaf spring bolts from Man-Aint-Free, and the two bolts weighing a grand total of .2 pounds cost 12$

Also for those watching and waiting, I am going to apologize in advance it might be a little slow until June.

This is the list of things coming before Jun though:
New wheels and tires
Get the FZJ80 axle cleaned up and hung
FJ62 rear springs cleaned up and hung w Shackle reversal
Spring Over 75% done (mocked up but not fully welded)
Lock right in the rear axle
Sky manufacturing wide axle kit
and possibly some more. Stay tuned.

Got the leaf springs all cleaned up and set to be hung. I was thinking about using these springs to move my front axle forward an inch or two.

Will this cause any problems with a Hysteer setup?

FZJ80 Axle

Well I finally had the chance to pick up my new rear axle. Thanks once again to Redeye for letting me have it. Didn't get a chance to clean it up any tonight, but did have enough time to get the E-brake working.

Can't wait to get this all cleaned up and hung on the rolling chassis. Also I get the old panhard bars too. They should work our nice for an anti-wrap bar.

Also a question for those who have swapped fj80 axles in for their rear axle. Are the pinion flange patterns the same as for the fj60 or fj62?

They flange patters where the same on my rear... but not for the front (not that it matter in this case).
I have an 85' TC and the axle is out of a 96'.
You should be alright......

Thanks for replying, that's great to hear. That means I will have a few 3rd members as spares/gearing options for the future. When you did the coil swap did you keep the axles in the stock location under the frame?

Damn that's gonna be a lot of cutting to put that bad boy under a 60. Hope you've got a good torch. Eager to see how you get it done up.

Even better than a torch, the shop has a plasma cutter I saw just chilling out, I'm gonna check it today after work and see if it is functioning. If so I should be able to get most of the brackets cut off tonight.

By the way I'm glad you guys keep the support coming, I'm usually waiting for a response from one of you three.

Any of you move your front axle forward at all?

Yes, no, kind of.....
I didn't moved the axle.... I cut the 80's frame to match the wheel base of the 60's.....

I would expect it'd take some working of the linkage to make it work. Might be easier to weld new spring and shackle hangers placed to allow the axle to stay put.

Yeah, the thing is with the rears up front, there is going to be a slight shift in the axle I think. With the shackle hanger right at the front of the frame I might be able to keep the axle in the stock location, not sure yet though I haven't had a chance to test it.

I wonder if you can turn the springs around (switch front to back) and be able to retain the axle's position. I assume you plan on doing a shackle reversal?

Yep that's the plan, the shorter end will be towards the front of the truck. Even if it moves it forward a bit its not the end of the world.I will just need to trim the valence and maybe need to adjust the front steering geometry.

I would like the increased approach angle though.:)

Glad to see my old axle being put to good use. Looking forward to getting involved too......just ordered some new parts from CDan today for my project. :)

Had a little time in the shop tonight, Got all the brackets and nonsense off of the fj80 axle. Took some pics because I know everyone loves them. A Bit rusty.

So I have been looking up wheels and tires, I am thinking about going with some 315/75R16 KM2's that way I wont have to regear.

They are approximately 35" tall. I also found looked into getting some Blackrock 997 steel wheels made up to fit my backspacing.

Does anyone foresee any problems running this combo?
