Boring :p Rip it apart already!!!!

I gotta help clean out the shop before I can use it, I can't complain because I get to use it for free.
I've also been sick, and switching jobs takes a bunch of time too.

Good things come to those who wait. Don't worry its going to happen. I'll have some progress by this weekend.

That Wagon Is Sick!!

Stevo,
Love the wagon, great look. Post some more pictures of that front bumper. I promise I won't copy it. It is one of the coolest I've seen for the 60, though. Can't wait to see the 6bt.

Check out my build thread, I have what I did to build it. It starts around post # 192.

And feel free to copy whatever you want from it, I used other people's bumpers as inspiration when I built mine.

I had a little energy today after work and managed to get the shop all cleaned up and reorganized so there is room for the cruiser. This is where the beast will stay for the next few months thanks to my friend Keith and his family.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to drain the fluids and start dismantling the current drivetrain in the cruiser. Might even get the motor pulled by the weekend.

Unfortunately I didn't get any shop time on my truck yesterday. I had to help a buddy swap out the rear suspension on his chevy 1500. But I did pick up some goodies for the swap.

A brand new 4.10 ring & pinion set from Dana-Spicer. Not too bad for $150.

Some Progress

Tonight I had some time after work so I dedicated a solid block of it to start getting the 2F ready to be pulled.

I drained and removed the radiator fan shroud and PS system. I disconnected most of the electrical system and also removed a bunch of emissions and vacuum lines. The grill, battery and light bezels were also removed. I hope to pull the hood and get the rest of the wires and lines removed tomorrow and possibly get the old motor, trans and Tcase out on saturday or sunday.

Also this Friday I am heading out to Erie PA on a little road ship with my friend Sean to go pick up the Clark transmission and NP205.
Once that stuff makes it back, all it needs is some paint and it will be ready to get bolted to the engine once I get it pulled and do some gaskets. Here are some pictures of the transmission.
It turns out that the transmission is 28" long from the bellhousing to the center of the output yoke, is 16" tall and 12" wide, however it is still 200 solid pounds of cast iron case and gears.

I'll be watching this closely. Picking up my first 'Cruiser tomorrow, and the Dodge donor next weekend. My project will probably move slower than than yours though. I was considering that same axle setup too.

What year dodge? if its 94 or later they have ball joint dana 60's which aren't as strong. But it will have the P-Pump on the motor which is a good thing.

So I was thinking about the brake system I will be running and I have a question. Can I use the stock brake booster and MC with the dana 60 and 14 bolt brakes? or if not could I use the stock booster with the hydroboost MC from the dodge? Or I also have a MC from a 1996 4Runner too.

Also I am debating which locker to get for the Dana 60. Any opinions?

It's a 97, and I doubt the front D60 is even usable after being hit hard enough to crush the control arms and send the coils springs airborn. Besides, it's driver side drop. I just figured by getting the whole truck, i would hae all those little bits that you end up looking wll over creation to find. I'll part out everything else worthwhile, and scrap the rest. I'll probably use a Chevy or Dodge front D60 with kingpins. Do you think you'll have any fuel tank to diff clearance issues? I'm hoping that a SOA will be enough to avoid problems.

I am probably just going to run the stock landcruiser tank with the mechanical fuel pump on my engine. If I find that 23 gals isn't enough I might make up a new custom tank.

But as long as you are SOA there should be no issues with clearance. Currently I have tons of room between the diff and gas tank.

As far as the brake MC, etc goes, I'm thinking of using the whole hydroboost setup. It should have ample capacity for whatever brakes would be used.
I'm also partial to an ARB for the front. After having run a couple in different rigs, I'm sold on a selectable front locker. If my $ is right, I'll run one at both ends.

... the hydroboost MC from the dodge?

This.

Just a few modified holes on the firewall and a cut and re-thread of the hydroboost pusher rod to adapt to your factory clevis and brake pedal. Then find a MC with 1" to 1 1/8" bore or better yet just use the dodge MC/hydroboost unit and adapt the lines to your toyota circuit. Stopping won't be a problem.

Sweet, thanks boots. I'll have to take another look at your thread to see what you did.

Looks like you quoted me while I was editing my quote. You're just too fast.

Hahaha. It probably would be easier to adapt the whole booster and MC combo as opposed to mating it to the LC one.

Boots are you running a booster on your brake system? It looks like you just have the vacuum source plumbed into the MC.
