After a good hour or so of wheeling logging trails last night I realized for me to have any control over my Truck with lockers. So I need to upgrade my steering. I was think going a Hydro Assist with the stock Setup. Has anyone done this?

WIll crossover steering work with the stock suspension? From the looks of it I have a ton of negative arch and I dont think it will work.

I would be happy to eliminate the bump steer alone, but dont know what I could do.

P.s. My lockers come in tomorrow! My lockers come in tomorrow!

You might want to snoop around on the steering page of the chassis section of our website before you make your steering decision, www.downeyoff-road.com

the high steer is in fact high, and will clear your springs.

dont dump any money into your stock steering setup. the high steer setup is way better.

I got mine from Marlin. I was deciding who to get it from for a while. After posting about it here, and then looking at my buddies hy steer from All Pro, I decides Marlin is the way to go. All Pro's arms look weenie compared to marlins.

Ummm, errr, this is the mini-truck section Jim. Saginaw steering doesn't really have an application on our trucks.

Go with Marlin or All-Pro. I've used both just fine. But, it will not work with the stock suspension. You will need at least 3" of lift.

I think it's time for a moderator to have a little talk with Mr. Downey about trolling for customers.

First, I suppose it's possible to put hydro on the stock steering setup, but the first time you use it you will snap the "banana arm" on the driver's side. The stock push-pull steering sucks.

You should upgrade to crossover steering, but you can't with the stock suspension, the draglink won't fit thru the gap above the springs. And you need even more lift if you want to run hi-steer, like pappy says you need at least 3" or so. You'll also need to swap the steering box for an IFS one.

And if you do DON'T GET RID OF THE POWER STEERING BOX. They are used to convert FJ40's to power steering.

Pappy, I know that. My uncle taught me that when i asked why we had a junk mini that dad talks about all the time, he says he shouldnt have scraped it blah blah blah.

So know way to upgrade stock steering without a lift? Dang, that sucks. Is there anyway to stiffen up the stock banana arm? Would you be able to 'tap' the old steering box?

What helps the 'bump' steer. I have arms of steel but am afraid i would break the steering wheel with the 'wobble' it has already.
