Howdy! Went to service the ujoint in my steering column, and even though the ujoint is original, it only needs a little grease, since there is no zerk. BUT, the retainer clips fell apart when I removed them. Anybody got a set, or a P/N? I think I remember a long time ago that someone said the ujoint is Unobtainium. John

I'm not sure if the steering "U" joints are still available or not. I found a pair from a guy a couple of years ago and replaced mine. I tried to read the part number on the box in the picture but I can't quite make it out. Is it the "U" joint's you need or the circlips on the ends or the strap that holds the "U" joint to the rest of the shaft?

I have an NOS FJ55 steering link [the one that goes between the column and the box] if you are interested. IF you just need clips, try PMing Calico Kid, I think he still has his old link.:)

You'll want to ensure that the slip joint actually slips!! I had to pound mine apart 'cause it was seized together after 30+ years. If it doesn't slip it will end up taking out the "U" joints.

Howdy! Yea, Good point. No problem there. I actually welded the lower part of the steering column from my donor Chevy to the Toyota one, so I kept a long slip joint. I also am using a carrier bearing in the middle to support the angles I have used to get the Saginaw box to fit with the 350 all inside the engine bay. Been working good for over 16 years since I last had it apart. The Ujoint is actaully OK, but the retainer clips died. So I will just replace it all since it should be cheap and easy. Thanks, John

Howdy! I am finally all done putting it back together. The bad news is the ujoint from NAPA is a perfect fit, but it does not have a zerk on it. The good news is that when I opened up the box, it said "Toyo" on the cross!! Lucky me.. If this one makes it 33 years like the first one, then I am set. Thanks for the help on this one guys. John

Ordered the parts. Yeah, 30+ years of abuse/neglect takes it's toll...
