I don't have my invoice with me at the office today however..... I can recall from memory.

They billed 5 hours @ $135 plus the starter @ $300. They removed the passenger side exhaust manifold but did not charge me for the new gasket. I was out the door at just under $1k. Spoke with the tech before, during, and after the job. The R&R was done per Toyota Service Manual from below by removing down pipe, heat shields, and exhaust manifold to gain access.
 
I doubt most service departments are going to replace the starter without manifold removal. They have the tools and experience to do the job right, and are getting paid for it.. not much incentive to cut corners.
 
By the looks of that sideways pic I'd say the brew was real good . :cool:

I thought all starters fail at 125k miles?
 
I wanted to update. I was curious on to why the starters were discounted. Toyota has dropped prices on some of the parts for 2020. The denso 28100-0S050 list price is $254.16. since most parts are about discount about 30 percent online from participating dealerships.
