Not a fan myself, but I can see where some would dig it. As long as it functions properly, I think it's just a matter of personal taste.

Maybe I should collect some scrap from my work and build one out of 625 inconel

No. But im glad they were not 130°F or higher..

Yes. Im no expert, but convection via forced air creates heat dissipation.. in this case only a few degrees.

Im sorry.
Google is your friend..

I don't get that last comment.... thus my quoting "big power mods" V8s tend to run hotter...

BTW this is only my HO...
from actual driving conditions/experience...

;)

I received an answer back and that snorkel is 4” SS and 1 mm wall thickness. It’s very well
finished and looks good. I run a Safari with my 12HT, and a resounding ‘pfffffft’ to all naysayers
of snorkels. After thousands of kilometres on dusty backroads of BC and Yukon my air filter still needs replacing with every oil change. I cringe thinking how bad it would be with underhood air inlet.
I just reviewed a video I took on the Dempster as I’d pulled over to let a semi pass, and it was almost 15 sec before the air was good enough to see let alone drive through.

A snorkel helps reduce engine wear and tear and improves engine performance? LOL.

I am totally down with people like the looks of a snorkel. However, for 99.9% of us, they provide no real advantage other than the cool looks. JMHO.

That statement might be true for most people living in developped countries..... Here in the Caribbean, rain turn roads into deep rivers . Onroad and off-road driving are pretty much the same day in and day out. The dust factor is alsoa fact of life down here , so IMHO,a snorkel is a must down here and every one of my 4x4's is fitted with one.

I think idea here is air tends be cooler than let it go through the normal path which is under the hood. Cool air is more dense than warm air. The part about dust is not good for the engine is definitely true especially if it has turbo, you add more wear and tear with dust being mixed in under a normal setup. The air filter will not stop 100% of the dust. Others use water or oil to help catch some of that dust. The only thing I don't like is SS will conduct heat hence heating up the air if it's a hot day. I mean if arguement is that the performance is better because cooler air more dense it kinda defeats the idea...unless its a cold day. Maybe it's still cooler than the normal path it would take. Just saying and honestly does matter unless you you have turbo and it's dusty I would consider a snorkel. I have one made out of plastic and it's not connected to anything. I like idea of blowing air inside the engine bay.

Unless you are crossing deep rivers or driving in the Australian outback there is no benefit to a snorkel.
There is no power increases, being worried about the heat created in a stainless snorkel is ridiculous.
