I bought an SR5 gauge cluster off ebay for my 1985 4Runner and plan on installing in the next few days. I already have the new oil sending unit. What I don't have are most of the bulb holders and bulbs! :o

I'm going by the Toyota dealer on Wednesday. There are 19 holes in the back of this gauge for bulbs and I only received about 5 of the bulb holders and bulbs with the cluster. One or two of the bulbs that I have include the green tinted cover. Anyone know how many are green? Are the rest clear?

I'm assuming that you need all 19 bulbs??? The dealer's parts guy didn't seem too sure of what I needed over the phone so I wanted to go in armed with a bit of knowledge.

I hate it when plug 'n play turns into a scavanger hunt!

No, you dont' need them all. Hold it up to a light and see what you will want to light up, like the "Back door" light you will want.... the OD light if you have an auto ect...

I think there is a timing belt warning lamp, and glow plugs.... lots of stuff you don't need. And there are 2 sizes of bulbs too! :D The big green ones are for lighting the gauges, and the small clear ones go on the sides and bottom for all the idiot lights.

And! The non-SR5 gauge uses different bulbs I think.... I just remember that not very many of mine swapped over when I did the swap.

HTH!

Thanks for the help. Finally tracked all the bulbs down yesterday. Had to go to 3 different parts houses; dealership was no help and finally found the small bulbs at a foreign car repair shop. Went with blue bulbs instead of green for the big ones. Those small bulbs and holders are really hard to find.

Put the cluster in today. Can't believe it, everything works! I finally have a tach and oil pressure.

It took longer to change the oil pressure sender than the gauge cluster. :D
