oh. well that makes sense. i'll get the pic as soon as i can.

i like to tackle the hard to answer threads, and hit the ones with zero replies. and do my best to come up with a solution. just happened to be a few tonite ;)

never seen an SR-6 to be sure. But I'm pretty sure that the SR package came with different options over different years(clusters,seats,trim,etc...) But as far as I know, and I haven't seen one yet that is different, SR stands for Sun Roof.

so im guessin that person that said sun roof was not serious? or, is it funny cause he was serious? i dont really get it, i guess its because im young and not corny haha:flipoff2:

SR does not stand for Sun Roof.

Actually it is a well known fact that that there are 5 levels of sexual repression.

Back in the 70's there was a trend in marketing that played, (or prayed), on potential consumers by using subliminal advertising schemes.

Toyota jumped on the band wagon and knew they could boost sales by going for the sexually repressed Americans.

As far as the -6,(I am guessing on this one), some poor soul has discovered another level...no doubt he is married.

Hey, I did say as far as I know, and that I hadn't seen one different. That being said, I got that from a "Toyota Guru" back when I was a kid and had no reason to doubt him really. I was a kid, so maybe misunderstood what he was saying exactly, but, to this day I haven't seen a single Toyota Truck or Tercel that said SR5 and didn't have a sunroof, or one that didn't say SR5 that did have a sunroof. Maybe SR5 has had different meanings over the years models etc... But the only thing I have seen remain constant was the Sunroof. So, giver, prove me wrong! Pics please? Searching the web, as I'm sure everyone has already done, brings up loads of equally ridiculous suggestions if you want something funnier than "Sunroof"

This from Wikipedia (article "Toyota 4Runner"):

"An SR5 trim package was offered that upgraded the interior: additional gauges, better fabrics, and a rear seat were standard with the package."

Not that it sheds any light on what SR5 stands for.

My SR5 4Runner definitely doesn't have a sunroof. :hhmm:

well, surprise surprise, I've been proven wrong. Didn't exactly doubt this would happen. Was just speaking from my own experiences. That includes over 10 4Runners that I had worked on for friends or owned myself. Not exactly a wide market analysis I know, but every one of em fell into the sunroof/no sunroof sr5/no sr5 criteria so that's what I based it on. And quite frankly seems just as viable an option still. Since every other theory I've read seems to have models/years that didn't have this or that etc...
Also to be considered, is that what SR5 originally stood for is likely different than what it now stands for or at least what it equates to.
p.s. Moonroof is a moonroof, sunroof is a sunroof. LOL. Moon, AKA, Sun???? Totally not the point I know.
