LX manual says that the black triangle has do do with masking image distortion: "Certain areas at the front of the vehicle have a different sense of distance, and are masked in black so that they do not appear on the screen." This is from Tacoma manual which is a little clearer: "Since the driver's sense of the distance in front of the vehicle is different from actual conditions, masking is used." Think this is due to the fisheye lens which would make objects in the middle of the screen look like they are farther away than they actually are.

If you look closer, the field of view is quite different between the two. The use case intent is different.

Toyota knows what it's doing. Designs often have to account for the masses, lowest common denominator of users. Leave it to them to misunderstand and use the feature wrong...and try to drive forward with that camera angle. Toyota tends to be conservative. Admittedly sometimes to a fault.

Sorry I must be missing your point.

If that was indeed their mindset then every other car would have that. Due to space limitations of having to drive my car way in so that I can open the wonderful tailgate so the dogs can jump in and be harnessed, I need to see how much more clearance I have instead of a partly dead image.

So what I'd really like to know is what is the signal as:

Front Camera Signal Type for 2021 LC200

The specific signal type for the front camera of the 2021 LC200 is not clearly defined. However, there are some insights regarding its design that may provide context.

Camera Design Features

The front camera appears to have a "hood" designed for glare reduction.
This design could suggest a particular configuration for the signal, but it does not confirm whether the signal is RGB or electrical.

Recommendations

To determine the exact signal type, it is advisable to:
Check the camera's specifications.
Consult with a professional or a Toyota dealership for precise information.

This approach will ensure you receive accurate details regarding the front camera's signal type.

And replacement or moving the camera can be found here:

Thanks for any hints

IIRC the blackout image is applied in SW in the display, it’s not the hood that blocks it.

The signal on my 2009 is NTSC and possibly digital. The raw camera feeds run through a surround camera processor from the Park Assist Monitor ECU. If you're looking to modify, good luck, but it's maybe more fun than you're counting on. More insight here

Note your 2021 could very well be different.

Just an observation but this truck must be rough for you with all the ill suited features for how you want to use the rig? Rather than modify the complex camera system, might be easier to go old school with visual cues from the drivers position, maybe a cue in front camera view, or old tennis ball hanging from ceiling?

Thanks.

NTSC actually includes RGB in its encoding.

However, given NTSC (Never The Same Color) was replaced with digital encoding (ATSC etc.) in 2009, I doubt in 2021 they would still use NTSC.

It will no doubt be easier to just replace the camera run BT onto a separate monitor

PS Having lived in Europe for 17 years I'm very aware of PAL, SECAM and NTSC as well as all the sub-systems.

Anyone remove the ABS fuse to wheel? Pic for attention. Getting tired of throttle being cut and ABS kicking in when I need momentum and throttle

trac off doesn't automatically turn this off?

Yeah, that sounds like Traction Control, not ABS.
Our traction control is based on the ABS sensor. And nope, held the traction control button til it dings and even says that VCS is off but still kicks in. It was very annoying today on muddy hill climbs

It may use the sensor to detect and interpret wheel spin, but ABS has the term Braking in it's acronym. Different computer, different function.

But I get what you're saying, that's pretty annoying.

If you're not already, easy button to get busy is to lock the center diff?

I think the best you can do with available settings is to dial the MTS/Atrac to “sand/mud” which allows the max wheel spin. I don’t think there is anyway to shut it off.

Pulling the ABS fuse is an interesting idea. I think that would work to shut off traction control. I recently had a wheel speed sensor go bad on my last trip and the codes that threw disabled the traction control.

Center diff wasn't engaging today. Hoping it engages tomorrow. Had to even remove the battery connectors and reconnect to get 4lo to work

2008 doesn't have MTS. I know other groups that have traction control pull fuses to get rowdy. But never seen anything in the 200 section and wasn't sure if that's cause it causes other issues for how complicated the system is

Went under the truck today looking for a squeak. Had assumed the rear shock bushing stack (OME MT64) as that area had been an issue previously with Nitrochargers.

But I think I have bigger problems:
I think I broke a sway mount bolt. Passenger side. Anyone know the official part name number for that bolt (and assuming nut; for the outboard side)

[edit to add]
I think it’s 91552-C1050? Does that just threat thru; no nut on the other end?

Update2:
Thanks @bloc for the nut part number ( 94151-21041)

Ordered parts to my local dealer to avoid shipping cost.

FWIW. The nut and bolt are M10 1.25. I did an Ace Hardware temporary fix.

The nut for that bolt should be 94151-21041
Not sure why it isn't on your diagram.
