Thanks! Now I just need to find someone with tech stream in the DC/NOVA area

On my 11 I can turn off DRLs through the touch screen. I think you can do it with Carista too (free trial of app with purchase of dongle). $20. And you can return it if you don't like it...

Please confirm this is the correct TRD filter for ‘10 200. Thx!View attachment 1990140

Yup. That's the one:

Looks like this on top:

Comes with higher performance O-Rings (TRD on right, stock on left):

I guess I need to dig through the settings. I don't think they changed anything between 08 and 11

And my turn, with my new to me LX570, after completing a turn - my turn signal doesn't stop blinking. Is this normal behavior? All my other cars, once the turn is complete, the blinker turns off. Even the wife's GX 2011.
Ah , it appears that you have a limited edition 2011 LX570 Grandpa Edition. Blinker will stay on for miles.

There are trip-points in your steering that release the stick once you turn your wheel back tire straight after a turn.

You should be able to HEAR when it trips, and there are quite a few points. To hear all of the points, hold your keep holding the signal stick to on as you straighten for a full-lock turn. When you do, you should hear a number of clicks or small thumps as you hit the trip points.

If you hear nothing? Someone screwed up inside there somewhere or for got to attach some trigger, or whatever it’s called.

Normal trips are not activated with small lane changes on a highway though. Only if a turn spins your steering wheel a good bit off of straight, etc.

Thank you for helping out.

Blinkers will turn off while parked and testing. Also on some bigger turns. Weird deal.

Maybe the points closest in are worn out? More testing involved. I was just annoyed to notice I was pulling a grandpa a few times with the blinker still on after I thought it would have been off. Probably an OE issue.

If you mean on the highway... ya...I’ll pulled a grandpa a good number of times. Sounds normal to me...unless you are able to turn at an intersection and back to straight and still not tripping them.

Time for another question...
Just turned the LC on, only been a week since last drove. Heard a loud noise, as if it came from the fan hitting something.. however it was only start up. Opened the hood to see if there was anything the fan was touching while on. No rubbing anywhere and no wobble from what I could tell. But had the aroma of burnt rubber in the engine bay. Could this be a sign of serpentine belt wear?

Update: there was no squeal noise or anything while driving. Also when I started up again after driving did not have the same noise happen again on start up. Hopefully someone may be able to provide insight to what I should look at

Hmmmm......burnt rubber smell in the engine bay is not a stupid question! I’ll guess at bad bearings on something the serp belt runs over. Others on here will know what to check first.

Figured I'd rather post here instead of starting a thread, also if there is a thread on this that I didn't search for since I'm on my phone and posted this right after it happened in the car, it can be dumb for not digging the archives of posts

The serpentine belt and associated tensioner /bearings would be highest on my list of things to check. Good luck.

Since it was sitting idle for a week, and this is the only time you have observed this noise, I have a different idea.

If this turns out to be a one-time incident, i.e. you start your vehicle several more times without observing the same noise, perhaps some little critter was resting in your engine bay and ran afoul of the fan when you started it up. Are you missing a kitty?

Not super common anymore, but due to it sitting for a week or so, Toyota's in general occasionally will emit a rattle at start up that may be confused with the cooling fan hitting something. This is or can be caused by the VVT-I timing gear sprocket being unprimed with oil, and it with vibrate back and forth until oil pressure is achieved. Even on newer Toyota engines I will still occasionally run in to this. No definite fix other than replacing the timing gears if it gets pronounced enough and does it regularly. But it is mostly just annoying (or scary, depending on the severity of the rattle). Another thing the 200 series has is hydraulic valve lifters, which can also lose prime when sitting for a bit, causing a similar condition. Again, no cause for major concern, but it can be surprising and unnerving if it's not been experienced before. It may not be what you experienced, but just thought I'd throw that out there:)

Thank you @gaijin @thabruiser @Hatteras @Sandroad for the feedback. Looks like it might have just been from sitting. Never heard the noise again Saturday when I started up. Even today no noise or even smell in the engine bay for that matter...

Trying to prioritize some socket purchases. Does Toyota make much use of 12pt/spline fasteners on our LCs? If so, where? I haven't run into any yet but have only scratched the surface of DIY jobs. I doubt I'll ever get into something as hard corps as taking apart the engine or transmission, so if 12pt is only in those areas I think I can skip 12 pt sockets for now.
Thanks

This is my vote. I lost a cat to this as a kid and have culled the squirrel population once or twice as an adult.

Never from the fan itself though, but from the belt which might explain the smell as the belt would heat up from the friction. After driving it for a minute or two it would clear out though.

I installed the ARB skid plates but there is no cutout to enable Oil Filter access.

I tried searching but arb skid plate oil filter was not returning any examples.

I was thinking of cutting a hole for access with a hole saw; and then attaching a larger plate to cover the hole when not being used.

Has anyone fabricated access to the oil filter on the ARB skid plate?

Check @Romer build thread - he did exactly that. I always get my oil changed by the same person at the Toyota dealership, and when I had ARB skids he just removed it for access.

Thanks !

Those Bud Built stainless are way better skids, these will need the modification.

Found it... what I figured ... plate over the hole.

I'm considering tackling a BP-51 suspension install with the help of my father (life-long mechanic, but no real experience with the KDSS system). Will four 3 ton jack stands do the trick for the KDSS-related steps of the install? Also, the 3 ton jack stands provide about a 16-17in max height...I'm assuming this enough clearance to get the job done, but anything I'm not thinking of?

Mine done with two three ton jacks a few weeks ago. The kdss was simple. The rear springs were harder that expected with all the stuff in the way. the "a" spring goes on the fuel tank side. I didn't see any directions for that, but got lucky on the 50/50 chance. If you have the 16+ may need a spacer on the passenger side. OME has some yellow 10mm spacers that go on the top of the springs if needed.
