Dave is completely out

Thinking about logistics.

Leon,

Gas. I'm assuming a full tank and a 5 gal. Jerry can will be enough? Still planning on refueling on day 2 or 3?

Potable water. I know the rule is a gallon a person a day. I'm assuming there's a place to fill up with potable water where we're filling up with gas?

Tables. I've seen some of the campsites in photos have picnic benches. Any idea if our camp sites will have them? If not, I'm thinking of getting one of those aluminum folding tables (anyone have suggestions on a brand/style they like?).

Stuff. What are you thinking about your trailer? You going to pull it? With My dad and my 2 kiddos, I'm thinking of either upgrading my roof rack or finding little high clearance trailer to buy.

Thanks!

Only 4 weeks away!!!

I second that table.

The plan right now is gassing up on day 3 in Hite. I will be bringing 5 gallons extra on each leg.

There is water in Hite so we can top off. The gallon per day is pretty high for a trip this time of year and for the three of us I will plan on starting each leg with about 7 gallons

Some have them others will not. I have a couple of the fold up tables I bought at REI.

My plan right now is to get everything in the LC so you are welcome to borrow my trailer. I might need to put a thing or two into it though :)

Thanks!

I put responses in the quote

Found out today that my Jeep has a 20 gallon tank. I thought it was only 16, just never ran it empty. It has a heck of a reserve. That's pretty good news for me.

Always nice to get news like that!!

Just fyi, everyone will need to bring a toilet system. Here is a link to more info:

  • A washable/reusable toilet system or human waste disposal bag is required when camping at the Maze District vehicle campsites; at the Chesler Park and Elephant Canyon backpacking campsites and the Peekaboo and New Bates Wilson vehicle campsites in the Needles District; and within ½ mile of the Green and Colorado rivers. More...

No to the bumperdumper. Set up your toilet well away from camp and others.

Awesome, thanks! What about that water crossing? Think the trailer will make it?

M-416 trailers are designed to float up to 500 lbs of cargo if they're unmolested (ie. no tailgate cut into it). It's definitely extra drag though if mud is a problem.

Great info Eric, thanks. I'm assuming you're bringing yours?
