Thanks taco. I will try that. I got a mag mount antenna. Where do I take the measurement from. Top if the base?

I just did total length of the wire, 1/2" either way won't make a big difference, and you can always adjust the set screws if it does. Tuned length for channel one is 8.6779 feet, channel 40 is 8.5385 feet. Tune for channel 19 ish and call it good. What is that, like 8 feet 7 inches or 4' 3.5" for the short version? I can't remember what mine ended up at. I tried a super stubby on the front bumper, it was around two feet long and worked ok. I kept twanging my face on it when working under the hood so I got a mag mount for the roof.

Well found out i need to rebuild my driver side front knuckle. Yay... Will be ordering the rebuild kit from Slee on Monday.

Oh that's great fun. I have a valve making some noise and I know I need to adjust the valves before the trip, need to order a valve cover gasket soon.

I just did my valve cover gasket not too long ago. When you do it its a good time to clean the throttle body, do plug seals, do the pcv valve, etc... and paint your valve cover for the bling factor!

I have a new gasket/seal set on order. Now if I can only find the time to get it done.

Well just got home from work (the Bering Sea) and stoked to start to get everything ready on the cruiser. Have wheel bearings to do, mount the tent, finish the on board air from the ARB compressor, install my cb, figure my tent heater out, and get all my camping gear together. Luckily when I am home I dont work and outside of having two kids have plenty of time! :) The cruiser is also going back in to the shop that just installed the ARBs and gears because there is a clicking in the rear when turning left and a small leak from the front pinion flange.
If I can get some of that done by next weekend we are going to go out and do a shake down camping run somewhere close to home (maybe Paulina). Needless to say I am getting really excited for our trip.
I did also get a confirmation from my cousin and his wife who live here in Bend. They drive a YJ and will be joining us for the weekend. He cant get all day friday off of work so they will be meeting us at the first camp site on friday evening.

Well. Getting pretty excited here too. Getting a lot of fj40 projects knocked off the list. And got a new trail chain saw. Picked up a small Echo top handle saw at a 20% off sale at our local tool shop. Pretty excited to use it. Hopefully we'll find some downed trees. Oh ya and I got a dometic cf25 fridge for keeping the food cool on the trip.

Not very familiar with Prinville so I looked up the coordinates. Came up with the corner of Main and NE 3rd Street ya?

The closest cross street is 9th and Main. Wagner's market on google maps (I think it's actually price slasher now, but I dunno) and just across the street is "main station express" aka Denny's express (both signs are present) which is the last gas before Seneca. I figured We'll fuel up, and cross the street to the price slasher parking lot for the meet and greet.

Yep, it's Price Slasher now. Hard to miss- that's for sure. Denny's doesn't always have premium outside of the Summer months, so if you need premium you may need to head toward the east side of town and fuel up at the Shell, "Cross Street Station." It's at the corner of 3rd (HWY 26) and Combs Flat Rd.

True, Shell is you best bet for premium fuel. Yet another reason the 3FE is superior, it will run on fuel siphoned from the wreckage of a WWII bomber.

In other news snow will not be an issue on most of the route. I was in Seneca this weekend and the snow line was around 7000'. Camp 3/day 4 is still a question mark, but it's supposed to be in the 80's next weekend and should make short work of the drifts around Tollgate. Morel mushrooms are out near Elgin, and they usually sprout in Seneca two weeks after. That is unusually early.

Ok. Price Slasher at 6:00 am it is. Thanks guys.

So I've got a set of Bilsteins sitting in my Amazon cart. Thinking about bringing them along and swapping them in the first night and doing a comparison from Day 1 to Day 2 with the accelerometer in my phone. Get some actual numerical data to quantify the difference shocks can make.

Otherwise mostly working on amenities for the truck. Need to build a door for the canopy and also a behind seat storage system.

Also, went out last weekend to Cline Buttes OHV and Edison Butte OHV and got in some practice with the drone and my new DSLR camera. Got some absolutely epic footage. If anyone is thinking about getting a camera drone and wondering if it's worth it... it absolutely is. Looking forward to meeting you guys next month.

Did you take your full size rig to Edison? Did you run the hole loop? I haven never seen a full size truck make the whole loop. My land cruiser was pushing the limit of size I thought. If so good job!

Yes. However, we unfortunately didn't make it around. There was still a good 2ft of snow, and we spent the majority of the afternoon creeping along at 2 mph or winching back onto the track. I think we only made it about a mile and a half before we ran out of time and had to retreat to set up camp.

I'll have to go give it another shot when it's not so snowy. The truck's actually quite small, it's shorter than the Taco in our group and has a 20" shorter wheel base. I think I'm only about 3" wider than your 80 too. I like to think I pack a full sized punch into a midsized body.

I would venture to guess it will be darkish when we arrive at camp the first night. I hope to get there sooner, but with this many people it will be slow going. If it were me, I would change them in the comfort of my own shop as opposed to changing mud and cow pie covered shocks in the dark. It would suck to srip out a bolt in BFE. They are going to make a marginal difference over worn shocks, but not life changing. I'm running 18" stroke 3" triple bypass radflo's on my Tacoma, it really doesn't ride much different than stock, you can just go faster.

But you forget... I'm a Dodge owner. Which means I'm well accustomed to lying underneath in the dirt and wet to fix things. :bang:

Kidding aside, I did my lift between 6:00pm and 3:00am in my driveway. I don't think the shocks would take more than 15 minutes. Besides that's all assuming I don't get them on Thursday and loose my cool and put them on right away, which is a real possibility.

With the trip being less than 3 weeks out I think we should finalize who is coming for sure and how many people total we will have. This is what I have from reading through this long thread. The lady and I will be in one rig, but will probably not be able to make the Monday push. We'll peel off Sunday evening.
