Got some minor items back from powder coat. Some of this stuff was rusty and NLA (the seat brackets actually were not marked NLA, but had no update and didn't show up after a couple of months. Missed one of the brackets and have to go back and get it.

This may be a moot point now that @OTRAMM is no longer producing this amazing exhaust, but here is the OTRAMM exhaust installed on a 93. Switching to the Magnaflow Y pipe with cat is mandatory (that's essentially what the OTRAM exhaust was designed to fit, but also gets rid of the 94 / 94 double stack cats). I replaced the 93 bracket with the 95+ bracket here. The lower hole was already there, then I added the upper hole. For now I just tapped the frame directly instead of adding a weld nut or anything.

I was hoping to keep the 93 shield from the factory over the frame exhaust, but no luck there without a lot of trimming that would have made it worthless.

And no, I'm not sure what exactly caused that wart on the frame there. It looks like maybe a chain was hooked in the hole and the truck was pulled, or the truck pulled something. Everywhere else on this thing I have pretty much found the frame to be in really solid condition under the grime.

Do GA vehicle get rust over there?

Do GA vehicle get rust over there?
My cruisers are in HI and TN. Oahu can eat up vehicles in no time. The condition of my frame is amazing. Just can’t deliver newborn babies on it like yours and Jasons. I’m just jealous so I had to give you a hard time :)

Do GA vehicle get rust over there?

Honestly I have only been in GA for 9 years now and this is the only old vehicle I have ever torn in to here. This one had rust on the inside from the leaking sun roof, and some surface rust on the frame, but nothing bad. I do have a patch beginning in the spot on the right side bottom of the hatch window.. Just guessing, with Michigan being a 1, and Arizona being a 10, GA is maybe a 7.

With regards to the drive train clicking & popping……

I had similar issues.

Before I rebuilt the front axle, repacking & re-torquing the front axle bearings made a massive difference for only a small investment in time & money 👍

Not a long term fix but it helped.

Hey, thanks for that ! In my case the front axle has already been rebuilt as part of this journey, so I have new bearings / seals and axles at this point. Everything was nicely packed, lubed and torqued. I'm pretty sure it is the front driveshaft, at least I hope it is. If not I have a problem in some new / refurbed component somewhere. I have a Land Tank double cardan shaft arriving tomorrow. Hopefully that will take care of it.

Main goals for the weekend were to get the rear seats back in and replace the front driveshaft with the new Land Tank double cardan. Neither happened, the driveshaft was delayed by weather, and I'm missing some small hardware for the seats. Guess I'll be way overpaying for some Toyota e-clips and nylon washers this week since I struck out at the local hardware joints.

I did get a couple things done that SHOULD have been done before my little test drive the other day. I lubed the new rear driveshaft, and set timing. The driveshaft was kinda lubed from Toyota, but must have been assembly lube really. Not much in the u-joints, and some in the recess behind the splines, but nothing in the splines themselves. All resolved now. Also found that I had the distributor a tooth off, so base timing was closer to 10 degrees than 3. Some of that pinging might not have been from the driveshaft after all... I know some people run more timing for power anyway, but I set it to factory 3 degrees for break in for a while.

Also played with the buffer on and off, bringing some life back to the paint. It won't be a show car and it will have some patina from rock chips and such, but not bad for almost 30 year old paint...

First pass, and it needs more work, but that was all flat white a couple days ago.

On a less positive note, I have a small oil leak at the back of the engine. After all this, it looks like rear main or oil pan bridge. Of course the seal is new, and pans were resealed. Of all the places for a leak.... I'm not going to pull the engine back out, beginning to accept the idea I'll drop the tranny to repair. Of course if the tranny comes out, then do I do a transfer case regear while I'm in there.... :hmm: I'm on 315's and have not regeared the axles. Wanted to drive it some to see what it needed.

Hoping I can see something with a mirror or borescope. As long as it doesn't look potentially catastrophic, I'll put some miles on it to get it broken in and see how everything is working before I work on it.

Oh, forgot that I have power steering again. It was just air / low fluid after all. I knew it seemed too easy to bleed after all the horror stories I had read, but....

Hopefully that oil leak is not a big deal, seems I may be a driveshaft and an alignment away from being able to get this thing out on the road / broken in / tested / dialed in, etc.

New driveshaft, now with double the cardan !

@landtank driveshaft arrived after a slight weather delay...

So funny story.... I decided to clean up the driveshaft a little before installing it, and hit it with some gentle foaming degreaser. Then proceeded to wipe the paint right off the new tube. I'lll be repainting that before I install. Hope I haven't voided any warranty.

I was going to ask why it looked used. Lol
