It was funny cause my gunner was commenting on the 470 in front of us and how there is no way a person in their right mind would actually wheel one of those fat blingmobiles on any real trails and that's when I spotted you pulling across Baseline in front of us to go jump on the 10 towards Tucson. I pointed and said " There's and idiot born every second". We both chuckled then I explained that I knew you and your rig and quickly pointed out the refinements and the fact that your rig, although very gingerly, has been on some of the better trails in AZ and is none the worse for wear. And no, the 100 is not a nondescript getaway vehicle.

That's hilarious. Timing, huh?

Gingerly? To brush...yes. Otherwise? Nope. Every tough line is tackled in the 100 (where it'll fit) :D

John, is the Lexi going to be ready for a test bash on Saturday?

Nope. Vibration is bad. I need those backordered friggin' upper control arm adjusts. Then it's wheelable though the 4.88's go in right after. So, I'll wheel it when it's totoally done....which could be only a few days of the parts show up!

We're planning on being there. Claudia and Michael.

See you all in the morning. It looks like a 2.5 hour trip to the meeting place from my house, so please bear with me if I'm tardy. I'll try to call Alvin if that seems likely.

First off, thank you Mr. Baggins for your hospitality and trail leading expertise! I had a blast today, great way to spend the last day of the year. Other than Mr. Baggins putting a nick in his new sliders, a good day of hard wheeling with zero carnage.

Five trucks showed, Mr. Baggins in his 80, Spike in his 80, Claudia in her 40, Michael in the Blazer and my LX450. GeoRoss rode with Mr. Baggins, he is a brave man.:D Spike showed Three Feathers who is boss by stomping all over it, good show buddy!

Looks like it was great fun!! Happy New Year to all.

That was awesome! Kudos should go to Michael and the Blazer, he ran more stuff than anyone. Gotta welcome Baggins to the locked world, looked like he enjoyed his first foray there. Well worth the 2.5 hour drive down Tucson way!

Great company, and a great day of 'wheeling. But credit where credit is due: the K5 is working quite well, but it was Spike who drove more and harder lines than anyone. Here's a few pictures, Mr. Baggins and the blue FJ40 were too fast for the photographer in the K5, as usual, so no pics for those two... here we go:

Sunrise on the way to Tucson (I'd say not too shabby for a shot out of a vehicle moving at 70mph down the freeway) - Tools w/ axles crossed and tire in the air - Spike just making obstacles look flat...

Tools w/ tire in the air (is there a pattern here...) - the K5 crawling thru the pinch at the Falls, everyone else drove the high line around it

Zoe and I had a blast with all of you. Great wheeling! Thanks for coming down to my neck -o- the woods and thank you for coming by my casa. I've been itching to show off some of my brew:beer:
I was impressed with the Aussie locker. For the most part I took the same lines on that trail that I always take and my rig rolled thru them much easier. Now, like Kevin says I need to learn to lay off the skinny pedal a bit.
Ross made a great radio man and shotgunner. Now he has a good idea what his rig is gonna feel like after we install his lift. Glad you came along dude!

I went ahead and re-installed my rear sway bar. While it may have given me a little edge off road, I didn't like the handling on road. I did some manuevering at 40mph with just the rear sway bar and I am happy with it, so I will probably just leave out the front one. Some day I will fix the mounts for the front one so I will have that option if I need it.

Happy New Year to all!

When was your last time into Chiva John? I can't tell from your pics for sure, but the far left line might be a bit harry-er now. Ben went down about half way but we figured that last drop would probably cause some damage.

I was at Chiva 2 weeks ago in the 100. That line does look really baaaad. In fact, I never had the thangamajigs to do it until last year when it was peer pressure vs a Jeeper buddy. He did it (in a TJ with 8" lift and 35's) so I had too because it was just him and me. It's not bad. Now I do it every time. You can lift wheels though, especially the front drivers in the 100. I've seen a Cherokee on it's side and sidewalls at times and other vehicles getting damaged their. For an artiulating rig like any Cruiser, it's a viable challenge. Try it next time. You'll be really surprised how well things go. :)

Other friends of mine swear I/we can climb the left side's rock face. Still don't have the thingamajigs for that. :D

Some of us looked at that line and decided we all like our doors...

Dude, have you been using your wife's ruler again? It is only a 3.5" lift and 32" tires.....and as I recall, you have the video of that "jeeper" crawling up that far left line without ever touching the gas pedal.....;) (hey, did you hear that I got my jeep through Hiway to Hell a couple weeks ago?)

And just because I can....here is what I was looking at while you guys were out at Chiva:
