During the deconstruction phase of my piggy resto, I've broken a number of rusty body panel bolts, leaving half the bolt in the fastener (nut) which is welded to the body panel :bang:. I'm wondering whether to a) try and extract the broken bolt or 2) whether to drill the fastener out completely and weld in a new one and use a brand new bolt.

Has anyone come across a source for these bolt/body panel fasteners(nuts)?

Thanks for all your help!

Lee:)

Howdy! The nuts are just that: a regular nut tack welded on the back. You could cut/grind them off and replace by tack welding a new one in. Or you could drill and tap. I have had a couple tha fixed themselves when I drilled them out. Others I have tapped out one or two sizes larger. John
